Doodle is a Swiss online calendar tool for time management and coordinating meetings. It is based in Zürich, Switzerland and has been operational since 2007. It has offices in Zürich, Berlin, and Belgrade.[2]

Users are asked to determine the best time and date to meet.[3] The organizer then chooses the time that suits everyone and the meeting is booked in the user's calendar.[2] Meeting coordinators (administrators) receive e-mail alerts for votes and comments. Registration is required to have this function.[4]

Ownership and business relationships

In 2014 Swiss media giant Tamedia increased its share in Doodle to 100 percent.[5]

In December 2022, Doodle laid off 19 people, or approximately 16% of its staff. These lay offs were due to Doodle's negative growth resulting from the poor reception to the reworked "Scheduling Experience"[6] released in February that year, and a confusing and incomplete rebrand.[7]

Usage

In 2014, they passed the 20 million monthly user benchmark.[8]

In 2016, Doodle was used by more than 180 million unique users in 175 different countries.[9]

Operating systems and integration

Doodle released its Android and iOS apps in 2014.[10] Doodle's mobile apps have been broadly criticized by customers and have a rating of 1.5 stars on the Google Play Store,[11] and have received consistently low ratings on the Apple App Store.[12]

Doodle interacts with various external calendar systems. Google Calendar, Yahoo Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, can be used with Doodle to track dates.[13] Google Maps may also be used to share the location of the event.[4] Doodle has fallen far behind its competitors (Calendly, YouCanBookMe, Acuity, and others) in terms of the number of integrations (no Apple Calendar, for instance), the depth of their integration ecosystem, and lack of a public API for custom integrations.

In November 2018, Doodle 1:1 was launched, allowing users to easily schedule one-on-one meetings.[14]
