Injured Arriving by Boat at Balaklava[edit]

Original - A William Simpson lithograph, depicting injured soldiers coming ashore at a dock in Balaklava during the Crimean War
Reason
The Crimean War was the first war in which care for the sick and injured became a military priority. The British public became aware of the poor conditions and Florence Nightingale made her reputation instituting improvements. This image, originally published during the war, illustrates part of the problem she remedied. Restored version of File:Balaklava sick.jpg.
