==Cascading protection incorrectly applied to featured articles==
For the second day in a row, the featured article has been cascade-protected because of this page. As such, I have disabled cascading protection until someone can verify that this won't happen again [[User:Raul654|Raul654]] 00:08, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Revision as of 00:08, 5 February 2007

The Main Page has five dynamic sections that update daily. Todays' featured article, this day in history, and the picture of the day run on pre-planned schedules. Did you know is drafted a day in advance as opposed to several months, and In the news is updated in real time. Using {{Day+1}} and other methods, these sections are shown here as they will appear on tomorrow's Main Page. This allows editors to make sure everything is running smoothly. This page updates automatically. In case there is a problem, anyone can view (and administrators can edit) tomorrow's:

New Year's fix

{{editprotected}}

In lieu of {{CURRENTYEAR}}:

{{#ifeq: {{Day+1}} | January 1 | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} + 1}} | {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}

Done; thanks for telling me about that.--HereToHelp 22:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know error

The did you know section contains one of them example images, I'm not authorised to edit it but somebody who is should do it :)

It gets fixed by tomorrow.--HereToHelp 13:52, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction errors

The introduction to this page contains 2 errors. "5 dynamic section" should be "5 dynamic sections" and "on tomorrow" should be "tomorrow".

Done. Kusma (討論) 10:00, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional grammar mistake in introduction - "In case their is a problem" should read "In case there..."

Done. I hope "your" happy.--HereToHelp 22:43, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will wikipedia be up tomorrow?

I think it would be cool if after wikipedia goes down for a bit the main page made some mention of why. Mathiastck 20:14, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's just server issues. But yes, we anticipate the site to be working tomorrow.--HereToHelp 20:32, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is notable enough that it going down is notable. A lot of wiki users like to know what, and whatnot. Mathiastck 00:02, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
IMO, there really should be a small banner just saying sory for the inconvenience and a short explaination of what the problem was, as well as an assurance of when the problem will be more permenantly resolved.--82.26.87.64 17:28, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't have any knowledge that you can't find in the Wikipedia article and the Wikipedia Signpost technology report.--HereToHelp 23:00, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since this is for admin use it might be worthwhile having edit links for each section. violet/riga (t) 22:52, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That throws off the formatting and is self defeating, but I'll add the links as text.--HereToHelp 23:01, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beckham

Someone PLEASE take Beckham off the frontpage. Me and millions of others don't need reminding that a trained monkey makes 250 mil in 5 years. --Energman 22:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK Next update

due to the new Cascade protection system, and its application to this page, I'd ask that admins not substitute {{Did you know/Next update}} for {{Did you know}}, since the former is intended to be open for editing by non-admins. Thanks! GeeJo (t)(c) • 01:03, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Picture summary is a redlink at the top of this talk page, and I had a major adventure trying to fix the picture caption. I still don't know what would repair the redlink. Art LaPella 03:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done.--HereToHelp 00:41, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Art LaPella 01:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
