Dr Jenifer Fay Alys Tennison, OBE,[1] is a British software engineer who is currently Technical Director at the Open Data Institute.

Education

Tennison was educated at the University of Nottingham gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1994[5][8] and a PhD in collaborative ontology development in 1999[4], supervised by Nigel Shadbolt.

Career

Tennison has been the technical architect and lead developer for legislation.gov.uk and previously worked on the linked data aspects of data.gov.uk. Previously, Tennison was self-employed as a consultant.

Tennison is author of several papers[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18] books including Beginning XSLT 2.0[19] and Xslt and Xpath on the Edge[20]. Tennison was an invited expert on the XSL and XML Processing Working Groups at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and was appointed to the W3C's Technical Architecture Group in 2011.

Awards

Tennison was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2014 New Year Honours[1][2][3]for services to Technology and Open Data.[1][21]
