The Battle of Maunda took place between Mahadji Shinde supported by Madho Singh and Vijay Singh supported by Jawahar Singh.[1]

Background[edit]

Before December 1767 Vijay Singh was confident of crushing Sindhia with help of his friend Jawahar Singh. It so happened that Vijay Singh while meeting Jat Ruler wrote to Madho Singh was help against Marathas. Madho Singh refused the proposal showing his loyalty towards Marathas and also insulted Jawahar Singh by calling him "low born". This was also one of the main reason which lead to this battle.[1]

Battle[edit]

The forces met at Maunda Jawahar Singh with Vijay Singh and Madho Singh with 10,000 Marathas under Mahadji Shinde . Vijay Singh and Jawahar Singh was defeated and their army fled, Marathas persuade the fleeing Rathore army upto Parbatsar.[1]
