Charles Robert Winters (born January 26, 1977) is an American social media personality who identifies as a gay man and is most known for his content posted to the TikTok platform or as a member of the Amazon Influencer Program. Prior to his work as a social influencer, he founded GaySocialites.[1], a gay men's social networking group. He is also an expert in the pet care industry and the owner of Bark Place NYC[2], a pet care services company [3]on Manhattan's Upper East Side providing pet grooming, dog daycare and dog training services.

Early Life[edit]

Winters was born on January 26, 1977 in Banner Elk, North Carolina but was raised in nearby East Tennessee. Winters was born to three adult sisters who he credits for much of his upbringing (along with his paternal grandmother) after losing his mother at the age of 5 to breast cancer. While attending Roane County High School in Kingston, Tennessee; he served as President of the Student Council and active member of DECA. He also attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he served as President of the United Residence Hall Council,[4] founded the first student run television station[5]and served as member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity.

Early Career[edit]

Prior to graduating from college, Winters began work as a television news reporter working for WTNZ Fox 43 as a reporter and videographer.[citation needed] After graduation, he worked as television news producer and reporter for WVLT Channel 8, a CBS affiliate in Knoxville.[citation needed] In 2001, he moved to New York City. A few months after his move, he covered the September 11th terrorist attacks for WVLT, the Roane County News and the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Acting Credits[edit]

Winters attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan which led to roles as an extra on Saturday Night Live during the fall 2001 season.[citation needed] He also had a featured role in the 2005 short film based on the Lou Reed song "Walk on the Wild Side" directed by Stephane Sednaoui in which he played a vacuum cleaner salesman who ultimately perished from "taking a walk on the wild side".[6]

Online and Social Media Career[edit]

In 2005, Winters founded GaySocialites and received credits for breaking news related to the death of model Anna Nicole Smith[citation needed] and was also involved in a variety of controversies public feuds with then Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak, Village Voice reporter Michael Musto and singer Lily Allen.[citation needed]

During this time, Winters amassed a following on Social Media with this Facebook group, GaySocialites. Then in 2021, Winters started posting to TikTok where he has garnered over 22,000 followers. In late 2021, Winters was invited to join the Amazon Influencer Program[7] where he hosts a weekly livestream shopping show called Charles Winters Live[8] where he helps shoppers find he best deals on items most commonly seen on Social Media. In 2023, he also joined the Temu Influencer Program[9]. He also content to social media accounts such as TikTok,[10] Facebook, Instagram[11], YouTube,[12] X (Formerly Twitter) [13]and Threads[14] under the handle of @thecharleswinters[15]
