European Conclave[edit]
First Conclave 2023[edit]
The First Conclave 2023 was held from November 24th to 26th, 2023, in Cascais, Portugal:[1] [2] [3] [4]. It was an initiative aimed at furthering the development of the European Union (EU) and was organized under the patronage of the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, supported by the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa.
The Conclave was organized by EuropaNova [5], in partnership with Re-Imagine Europa [6], the Bled Strategic Forum [7], M+ Group [8] and the Bertelsmann Stiftung among others.
The event was held at the Citadel of Cascais.

Objectives and Significance[edit]
The primary objective of the Conclave was to foster a space for reflection among 50 participants from various disciplines contributing to the European Union [10], including:
International Public Conference[edit]
The Conclave opened with an international public conference featuring discussions on geopolitics, trade, enlargement, democracy, insecurity, and migration [11] [12]. Speakers included Anthony Gardner, Pedro Miguel da Costa e Silva, Rukia Bakari Mbacke, Trisha Shetty, and Maja Piscevic.
Conclave Seminars[edit]
Held within the Palácio da Cidadela, the seminars were about geopolitics, technology, common goods, and democracy [13].
Impact and Future Prospects[edit]
A report will be published in January 2024 to influence the strategic agenda of the EU and feed the debate of the European elections [14].
