Gargazon (Italian: Gargazzone) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 60 km north of Trento and about 15 km northwest of Bolzano (Bozen).

As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 1,639 and an area of 4.9 km².[1]

Gargazon borders the following municipalities: Lana, Mölten, Nals, Burgstall, Terlan and Tisens.

[edit] Coat-of-arms

The emblem represents an argent tower on a gules hill with three fruit trees. The tower is the Kröllturm built in 1240 by Bartold von Trauston. The emblem was adopted in 1968. [2]

According to the 2001 census, 78.22% of the population speak German, 21.32% Italian and 0.46% Ladin as first language.[3]
