Jean Yip MP is a Canadian politician from Ontario, who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a by-election on December 11, 2017.[1][2] She represents the electoral district of Scarborough—Agincourt as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada caucus.

Yip is the widow of her predecessor Arnold Chan, and first became prominent in the riding when she took time to assist her husband with constituency political duties during his cancer treatment.[3]

Early Career and Life

Jean was born and raised in Scarborough--Agincourt to immigrant parents[4].

Graduating from the University of Toronto, Jean had a career in insurance and underwriting before taking time off to raise her children. Her late husband, Arnold Chan, was elected in 2014 and she helped represent him at local and regional events[4].

Political Career

Jean was elected to the House of Commons in December 11, 2017.

Personal Life

Jean lives in Toronto with her three boys: Nathaniel, Ethan, and Theodore.
