Coordinates: 21°42′N 72°32′E / 21.7°N 72.533°E Dahej is a fair weather port situated on the southwest coast of Gujarat, in the Gulf of Cambay, at the junction of Guljaria and Ban Creek. It is an anchorage port. The Port is about 40 kilometers from Bharuch, which is the nearest railway station. The nearest airport is at Ahmedabad and Baroda.

[edit] Anchorage
Vessels calling the port can anchor at a distance of 5 km from the Old Port and about 6 km from Jageshwar IPCL Jetty. The draft available is about 16m. During high tide, the draft is between 2.5 and 3.5 m. At IPCL Jetty, it is about 4 to 7 m.

Pilots are not required; however, services of the local guide are provided on request.

As the port is an anchorage port, there is no restriction with respect to LOA, beam or draft. However, LOA/beam/draft = 130m/33m/13m restriction is observed.

Dahej Port has two captive jetties and a private port used by Dhil, GCPTCL, IPCL[clarification needed].
[edit] Cargo handling
Generally, discharging or loading is done by using the ship's crane or grabs at stream. The lighterage is done through private barges of 500MT capacities each. Chemical tankers are loaded and unloaded with the help of a pipeline network.
