Incorrect information on[edit]

The synopsis for the book A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements is incorrect. Most of it is correct, but the ending is different. In the actual book, Mark participates in a week in the woods as part of the fifth grade curriculum. There is miscommunication between him and Mr. Maxwell, and Mark goes out into the woods by himself. He wants to prove he can do it. Mr. Maxwell realizes his mistake and follows Mark into the woods. Mr. Maxwell gets hurt, and Mark finds him. They talk things through, and the book ends with the end of the project. Everyone goes home with more understanding of each other. Mr. Maxwell does not realize he is Mark's father, because he isn't. He doesn't adopt Mark.

I am a third and fourth grade teacher, and I read every book that goes on my bookshelf. Andrew Clements is a terrific author who writes books about kids doing amazing things.
