"Ugliest man of his day" under Interpretation[edit]

Is there (or is it even possible for there to be) any historical basis for this? It's somewhat out of the blue. If he was notorious for his ugliness I feel like it should be mentioned somewhere in the article besides. Otherwise it just seems like a petty slight of the dead for no reason. What does this add?
