Reliable source about cancellation[edit]

@Roman Reigns Fanboy: Please show us a reliable source that says the film has been canceled. Cancellation would mean the filmmakers have made a conscious decision to stop making it. I'd be down with removing or replacing "Upcoming" in the short description, but to say it is canceled just by inferring whether they can continue would be squarely WP:OR. You have yet to produce a reliable source that says the film has been canceled, so your addition of the claim that it has been violates WP:V and WP:NOR. And regardless of whether the claim belongs in the body, Category:Cancelled films clearly doesn't apply here because it's "for film projects that did not enter production" and the article is already in Category:2020s unfinished films. You yourself wrote "for now", which means intrinsically that "canceled" doesn't describe the state of the project. That they can't find a partner also doesn't mean it's canceled. They can choose to cancel it on those grounds, or they can choose to keep their options open in case a partner materializes. As for hope, of course it doesn't make things come true. It also doesn't mean they won't come true; the point is that hanging onto hope is the opposite of cancelation, which implies giving up. Terms that describe the current situation include "suspended", "postponed", "put on hold", "deferred". Not "canceled". Largoplazo (talk) 13:27, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To make another clarifying observation: It could be true that, due to their current inability to move forward, they've canceled plans for, say, an October 2023 shoot or a July 2024 release. However, if a source reported such an event, it would strongly imply that the entire film hadn't been canceled outright. Otherwise the source would have just said that instead of delivering, instead, trivia about specific milestones subordinate to the greater scheme. Largoplazo (talk) 23:15, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Came here from WT:FILM. A verbatim quote from the source would be helpful since the full text is not freely accessible, but considering that the article currently says [...] after which he reportedly intends to revisit Being Mortal, "cancelled" does not seem like the right word. "Suspended indefinitely" would seem more accurate, as would e.g. "put on hold indefinitely" or indeed quite a few phrasings using the word "indefinitely" or some variation thereof.
