Birth date[edit]

Just to note in the index of death registrations for Brighton in 1971 Q3 it gives his date of birth as 2 December 1895. MilborneOne (talk) 17:58, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that; TNA file AIR 76/23/19, as usual with mixture of good and bad handwriting, shows 8.12.95 against date of birth, and what could be a question mark. No previous trace of place of birth, nor exact date of death, but present descendants have been encouraged to embark on family genealogical research. You have to remember that the date of birth registered at death may not be accurate depending on who registered it!. The birth index shows he was born in the Hendon district but the 1901 census (at Alma House, Pinner Road, New Bushey) it says says he was born in Cricklewood. In the 1911 he is at the Devon County School West Buckland and says he we born in Kensington! The birth index is more reliable but still only gives a general area for his birth. Just read his Times obituary (on Tuesday 10 Aug) which says "died at his home in Brighton on Saturday" which would be the 7 August 1971. MilborneOne (talk) 19:16, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
