The result of the move request was: Moved and redirected Chimp to Chimpanzee per clear consensus. No consensus on the issue of merging Chimp (disambiguation) with Chimpanzee (disambiguation) per the discussion between Netoholic and JHunterJ, in any event, a merge discussion can be started. Chimp → Chimp (disambiguation) – This would free up the title "Chimp" to be redirected to Chimpanzee. Chimp is short for Chimpanzee and readers are probably searching for the species when using this term and should not have to run into a disambiguation page. Support Per above, also noting that it doesn't seem any of the other entries are called "Chimp" so I don't think primary topic is even an issue, Chimpanzee seems to be the only topic we have called "Chimp" so it should redirect there by default. The 2nd and 4th (of which is a stub) entries are "The Chimp" and I don't see any evidence that the 3rd (also just a stub) and 5th are called "Chimp" either. Yes I would indeed suggest that the only (or at least primary) topic for "Chimps" is still Chimpanzee (since they are often referred to in the plural) but The Chimp should indeed be a redirect to Chimp (disambiguation). Given that this has been a long-standing redirect to Chimpanzee (apart from vandalism) until it was changed on the 13th and that Chimpanzee appears to be the only topic ambiguous with "Chimp(s)" we could probably just preform this move per WP:SNOW anyway. Support. "all others are related to chimpanzees" isn't a criterion, but it would seem to be the primary topic by long-term significance and also reader usage. Per WP:DABCOMBINE, chimp is just a shortened, variant form of chimpanzee as used there, just like the Fred/Frederick example given. --Netoholic @ 17:25, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, because many of the entries in the Fred/Frederick example given would be referred to both ways, which is why those would be combined and these would not. The advice is there to serve the reader, who would not be served by combining these. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:49, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
