The Name[edit]

Most people in the city refer to it as the John Hunt Morgan statue. It has John Hunt Morgan's name on it and the soldier depicted bears a resemblance to John Hunt Morgan. I feel that if the statue on the Madison County Courthouse is going to have its own Wikipedia article then perhaps it should have a more accurate name, or at least one descriptive than "Confederate Soldier Memorial".

Coordinates[edit]

@Another Believer: I've removed the coordinates -- as you say, they were completely wrong, to the point of being in the wrong city -- I don't know how I made that mistake, either. I can't find better ones at the moment. -- The Anome (talk) 20:30, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: I think I may have found it, at 34°43′48″N 86°35′07″W / 34.73000°N 86.58534°W. If I'm right, it's invisible from the air, because it's obscured by the large green tree in front of the courthouse at the given coordinates. However. given how wrong the last set of coordinates were, I'm not yet confident enough to add this to the article without independent confirmation. -- The Anome (talk) 20:42, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Anome, I can confirm. I looked at the map you linked and compared it to Google Street View. The statue is at the coordinates you listed, on the west side of the courthouse, under a big tree. ---HuntsvilleTrehcir _(Talk) 20:23, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
