I found a British Army Major called Major Delaval Graham L’Estrange Astley from the same period as D.G. Astley - I think they might be the same as Delaval was known to be a prominent sportsperson at the time, but I can't find anything to say that the two are same person other than stuff which is purely circumstantial.
