Category[edit]

This should not be placed in normal article categories. Even if Bkonrad is right and this is not a disambig, it is extremely slimmer to a disambig and should not be linked to, or appear in category pages intended to lead readers to relevant articles, see Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links_to_disambiguated_topics and Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Categories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talkcontribs) 15:30, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This should not be in Category:Subdivisions of Mauritius because this is not article, this is just a presto-disambig to prevent link rot. As an article or list it has no meaningful content. I'm restoring the dab catagory an even if it doesn't quite fit it's far better then the article category, and Malcolma wants it catigorised even if we don't know of a category that quite fits. This if far closer to a disambig then it is to an article. If there is a better category for link rot presto-disambigs, suggest one. I don't know what this page is, but it is clearly not a disambiguation page. The notion of a "presto-disambig" appears to be a meaningless neologism. olderwiser 12:05, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think this page is an unprecedented situation. It's not disambig, article, list, or a redirect, so for lack of a better term I'm calling this a presto-disambig. Bkonrad reverted my categorizing this as disambig, but for the reasions I've pointed out this shouldn't be categorized as an article, so I've removed the article catagory, without punting the disambig category back. Anyone know of a good category for a anti-link rot presto-disambig? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 13:45, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It is not unprecedented (although I do not recall specific analogous cases at this time). It has happened in much the same sort of situation where what what previously an article is split. If I recall correctly, the split page typically retains the original categorization of the subject matter. olderwiser 13:51, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Normally a split page would, but this is an unusual case. Territories and dependencies of Mauritius was previously at this title, and Districts of Mauritius was spun off from it. The resulting of the RFD was disambiguate, as targeting ether one of those articles was deemed unstable, the article was about both Districts and Territories. The original article Territories and dependencies of Mauritius (presumably) retains it's original categorization, the question is how to categorize this presto-disambig. (ec )While I seem to recall there being some others, I've found this somewhat analogous case:

FYI, I've asked for input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Categorization of a split article now a list of unambiguous titles. olderwiser 16:02, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
