Major problems[edit]

There seems to be a lack of an EVI page! Once again, I don't have the time to actually create an article, so would someone oblige?

It seems strange to me that the article reads as if all EWI's come from Akai. I do play an Akai EWI now, but for many years I played a Yamaha WX-7. I think there have been other manufacturers as well, including quite possibly some that Steiner made himself. The Akai EWI uses resistive sensors for the keys, not body capacitance. The RH thumb is "ground" and the resistance from any finger to ground is low enough to trigger the circuitry.--3piecesuits (talk) 01:16, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Players addition?[edit]

I just finished listening to the June 22 episode of the Penn's Sunday School podcast, and in the interview, Richard Dawkins mentions that he plays the EWI (in the last 5 minutes or so). I'm not sure if he qualifies to go on the "Notable Players" list since he doesn't play one professionally, but I thought I'd mention it here and let someone else decide if he should be on the list. Article EWI (musical instrument) has undergone some recent edits, which to me reads like a promotion. In review, I felt that Eboshakey's edits did not contribute to the article, and reverted them (checking each before deciding to revert all). Said user disagrees with my observations. In order to avoid an edit war, I have declined from reverting again. I would like an uninvolved opinion on what improvements or changes to the article should be made. I have left a message on Eboshakey's talk page regarding the inappropriate edit summaries, and questionable article content.

Eboshakey also reverted a serious and sincere copy edit I made to this page, referring to it as "malicious damage" despite attempting to sincerely prune redundant, unverified, and subjective information. The edit history suggests he's guarding this page rather closely, and I don't see a point in making another attempt. Not sure what to say. I play a Sylphyo, and it doesn't look like that kind of information is welcome on this page. I have developed a few Wiki pages and edited a number of pages, but I hesitate to tread here since it seems to be a bit of a battlefield ...

Change title[edit]

This page should be changed to “Steinerphone.” EWI is a brand name from Akai. Steinerphone was the original name of the instrument, and the page barely addresses other wind controllers.
