what do the numbers mean[edit]

Next to the names in the "Muhammad to Adnan" list. Is that birth, death, period of being tribal chief? The whole thing is poorly written. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:846:C000:61E5:113E:5186:6E94:329B (talk) 19:22, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to Family Tree[edit]

I find this family tree stuff far out of my grasp (for the time being at least). But I noticed that the portion related to Aisha and Abu Bakr is rather empty so perhaps the following people can be added accordingly:

Ibn Az-Zubair is the son of the aunt of the Prophet and the son of AzZubair (Az Zubair is already on the list as an uncle but his son is not). Also he is the grandson of Abu Bakr and the son of Khadija's brother (which makes Az-Zubair Khadija's brother). At the same time he is also the son of 'Aisha's sister. (adapted from Sahih Bukhari 6:60:188)

It can take a while, but ill try to add it eventualy. Thanks for the tip! Peace. --Striver 19:12, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think you got confused here. First of all, how can Ibn Az-Zubair (?) be the son of the Prophet's aunt and ancle at the same time? Second, if Al Zubair is the uncle of Mohammed saas and at the same time the brother of Khadijah, that means that Mohammed married his aunt?!!
They are two different people. I assume by Ibn Az-Zubair you mean Abdullah Ibn Al Zubair, the son of Asma bint Abu Bakr. Abdullah Ibn Al Zubair is not the son of Al Zubair Ibn Abd Al Muttalib the Prophet's uncle; he is the son of Al Zubair Ibn Al Awwam the famous sahabi, which is the husband of Asma bint Abu Bakr and the nephew of Khadija from her brother Al Awwam Ibn Khuwailid making Khadija his great aunt not his aunt as you thought before.
Just thought you would like to know. --Maha Odeh 11:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Addittion[edit]

Could someone please find sources and do a check on the following list to extrapolate its authenticity, and see whether it can be added or not.

A list beginning from Prophet Adam(I'm not sure of its authenticity, and spellings may vary):

Adam, Shees, Anwash, Keenan, Mahalbeel, Yaarad, Idrees, Matushalk, Laa-ik, Nuh(Noah), Saam, Raokashad, Shaa-ik, Ghabir, Faaj, Rawwa, Maarooh, Nahoor, Taj Awo Azir, Ibrahim (Abrahim), Ishmaeel (Ishmael), Keedar, Hamal, Thabit, Salamaan, Yatee, Yassi, Awood, Awoo, Adnan, Maad, Fazar, Hazq, Ilyas, Madraka, Khazeema, Kanana, Nassar, Malik, Fahad, Galib, Lavi, Kaab, Marrah, Kallab, Kassi, Abd Munaf, Hashim, Abdul Mutlib, Abdullah, Muhammad

I do have something. Leo1pard (talk) 15:18, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish ancestry?[edit]

The claim about the jewish ancestry of Muhammad through Salma bint Amr doesn't really have any convincing sources besides the article in which it is states without any eivdence. Suggest that it should be deleted, or at best kept in a less prominent place in the article, and explicitly noted as a speculative claim.
