Requested move[edit]

The result of the move request was: page moved. After moving, I noticed that many references don't include the 'the' in the name. So I'm going to move it to Flag of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic based on the existing usage. This still addresses the naming that was raised. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:50, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Nagorno-KarabakhFlag of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic – This flag belongs to the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, not to the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. So, I propose moving it to "Flag of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic", as in the articles I have mentioned. Seksen iki yüz kırk beş (talk) 14:03, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of the Nagorno-Karabakh RepublicFlag of Nagorno-Karabakh

  • Support. My actual aim in proposing to move the article to its current name was to get it in line with the article name, as we have separate articles for the region of Nagorno-Karabakh and the NKR. However, following the example of Kosovo, this move currently seems appropriate to me. --Seksen (talk) 21:28, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Flag of Armenia[edit]

To not merge as the topics are distinct. Klbrain (talk) 21:11, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a word for word duplicate of what's already in that article. Why should it be separate? FunkMonk (talk) 10:42, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose they are different subjects, and this article can be expanded. Super Ψ Dro 13:16, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, since it's essentially the same flag, it is very limited what can be said about it. Also why there is a single article for the North and South Ossetian flags, they're just basically the same: Flag of Ossetia. In any case, if it is kept separate, it shouldn't be duplicated in its entirety in another article? FunkMonk (talk) 15:58, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. They aren't the same flag, they are different. The article can be expanded and explain the development of the special Artsakh flag, for example, who's the idea was to putt that white pattern on it, and what it symbolizes? When it was adopted by the Republic of Artsakh? For example, Flag of the Croatian Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia isn't part of the Flag of Croatia article; Flag of Republika Srpska isn't part of the Flag of Serbia article. --Governor Sheng (talk) 18:19, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as far as I can see, those articles aren't duplicated in full in other articles. FunkMonk (talk) 22:21, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding that issue, as Super Dromaeosaurus and I have said, this article can be expanded. And again, there are of course, political implications – is Artsakh really part of Armenia? --Governor Sheng (talk) 06:22, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Different subject and different design. I'll mainly focus on the symmetry breaker between this topic and the comparison to Flag of Ossetia. The Flag of Ossetia comparison isn't entirely analogous because it refers to the single design used by the entire region regardless of what side they take in the territorial dispute. The North Ossetia region of Russia, the separatist South Ossetia, and even the pro-Georgian Provisional Administration of South Ossetia all use the same design to symbolize the region of Ossetia. As a result, reliable sources about that design cannot meaningfully distinguish the flag representing South Ossetia from the flag representing North Ossetia, and there is no conceivable way that it could be split into separate articles. The same cannot be said about this flag, which is used exclusively by the Republic of Artsakh, can be expanded substantially, and is certainly not used by all parties of the conflict as a symbol of the region. As for the text of this article being present in the Flag of Armenia article already, I wouldn't be opposed to removing the text from that article and replacing it with a "See also: Flag of the Republic of Artsakh" bullet point at the bottom per the political implications that other editors have already raised concerns over. It would be an understatement to say that there would be POV issues if we were to imply that Artsakh is a region of Armenia, and I can imagine that would upset all sides of the conflict for different reasons.  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 06:05, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - They are just purely not the same flag, sure they have a similar design, why does that matter? The two flags deserve separate pages. If the two pages have different pages, and if you feel that the pages are too similar perhaps that just means that the Flag of Artsakh page could use some work, not that it should be merged into a different page.
