'In 2005, the base led the nation in discharges of personnel under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Pursue policy. According to U.S. Department of Defense documents, Fort Leonard Wood discharged 60 out of a national total of 726 soldiers (8.26%). This was an increase from the base's 40 discharges the previous year, 2004.'

this is just intended to be PC to the homosexuals and cause embarassment to Fort Leonard Wood. Homosexuals know that they are not allowed to serve in the military and, if discovered, they army is obligated to discharge them. should the Army not follow regulations and let these people serve? putting this kind of rubbish in the article is not relevant. why not talk about PT scores or marksmanship scores?

Proposed split[edit]

How many readers look up Fort Leonard Wood on Wikipedia because they're interested in the income distribution of the census-designated place? No, I didn't think so, either. I propose to move the CDP information to a new Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri article, replacing the current redirect to this article. This article should be about the Army base, and appropriate wording should be placed at the top of each article, linking to the other. --Kbh3rdtalk 19:16, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved article[edit]

I moved this Article from Fort Leonard Wood to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This article is about the town, not the military installation of the same name.

Why on earth are the Fort Leonard Wood articles structured this way? (separate articles for Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Leonard Wood (military base)) They're the same place--there's not a town and a military installation with the same name, there's just the military installation, with Waynesville and St. Robert directly outside the west and north gates, respectively. I'm not making any changes yet, since there might be a reason I'm not aware of, but these should probably be merged. CatCube (talk) 02:32, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pages being merged[edit]

I've just merged this former freestanding article with the military base article. CDPs are established for most military bases' residential areas (Whiteman Air Force Base, also in Missouri, is an example of this), and I don't think I've ever before seen separate articles for the demographics and everything else. The old page history is now at Talk:Fort Leonard Wood/Alternate page history, since as a source of text for the main article, it must not be deleted. Nyttend (talk) 11:11, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
