Untitled[edit]

A number of websites claim that Karnad was at Magdalen College, Oxford. I found this while researching an article on John Keay, the popular historian, who apparently was roommates at Magdalen with Karnad. See www.johnkeay.com for details. --Peripatetic 15:52, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No mention about his Dharwad background?[edit]

Would appreciate if someone could shed some light on his background in Dharwad. For eg -- he did his intermdeiate there (in Karnatak Univ?). I do know that he had chosen Hindi for his language class (this is apart from the basic curriculum) there. I believe he went to Oxford to get a degree in Mathematics. By anecdotal recollection. I believe he was involved (to what extent I don't know) in some student activism, inhis Oxford Days. He knows Marathi too, because of his North Karnataka (Bombay Presidency in his impressionable years) background. But typically, all Karnads speak Konkani at home. Any people from Bangalore/Hubli/Dharwad shed light on above-mentioned items?

Updated article including Dharwad[edit]

I've updated the article including his Dharwad background with the help of sources I found online http://www.imagi-nation.com/moonstruck/clsc79.html. Gnanapiti 00:09, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

reference missing[edit]

www.ourkarnataka.com is no more available. So reference number 4 is no more valid.. I do know ourkarnataka was a very good site & data is very much valid. nearest to that currently available is http://about-jati.blogspot.in/ Can I clean this up? The only hitch is this is only a blog, without references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mallikarjunasj (talkcontribs) 13:59, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed unsourced/unverified material and replaced it with sourced text[edit]

The first paragraph of this article previously contained a wall of text relating to Girish Karnad's mother that was unsourced, unverified - and untrue. I have removed the text, and replaced it with a summary of his early life, sourced to the first chapter of his autobiography, which was published in Kannada (which you can see here), and translated into English by the author for Caravan Magazine, which I have included as a reference. Thank you; if you are further editing this section, please make sure that you include only verified material that can be traced to a source. --aprabhala (talk) 05:52, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As per WP:LEADCITE, there should be no need for any sources in the lead section, unless they support contentious claims. But regardless of that, all the in-line external linking in the lead section should be replaces with discrete references. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 07:33, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Source[edit]

@Nizil Shah: Hope This source (Encyclopedia of Indian Literature) would be helpful. --Gazal world (talk) 16:37, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, the source is helpful but article needs massive overhaul. And ITN time has passed.-Nizil (talk) 05:42, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
