"...The most recent sightings in the wild (with video evidence) were during the summer of 2008, when a team of researchers from the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Ornithological Society of Hispaniola were able to trap an individual specimen. The researchers took physical measurements and DNA from the creature before it was released back into the wild."

Why the heck did they release it back into the wild? If they are almost extinct as the article says, the wisest thing would be to trap all specimens and begin a captive breeding program ASAP, wouldn't it? Stonemason89 (talk) 17:38, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
