Merge[edit]

As the article Toronto Transportation Commission says, that is just a previous name of the Toronto Transit Commission. There is no need for a separate article. As the main TTC article is large enough already to have a separate history article, this is the natural place to merge it into. --207.176.159.90 (talk) 06:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disagree. As it falls under a different name, keeping it like this will simplify searching for this topic. Maxudaskin (talk) 17:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree. The Toronto TRANSIT Commission is a completely different entity. This should be an article that reflects the current TTC's predecessor the TRANSPORTATION Commission. Examples of where this is done on wikipedia can be found in articles of former companies that have been merged into other companies (example: Abitibi Consolidated & Bowater are now AbitibiBowater. While they are all now technically the same ... they have unique histories and were entities unto themselves. Eja2k (talk) 00:30, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment What proof is there that the Toronto Transportation Commission and the Toronto Transit Commission were two entirely different companies? If that is so, then the Transit Commission should have purchased the Transportation Commission or some sort of merger between the two should have occurred, like Toronto's railway operators merged in the early 20th century. Otherwise, if the Toronto Transportation Commission was just simply renamed as the Toronto Transit Commission then I strongly support a merge of the two articles. There can't be two separate histories just for one company only because they operated under different names--infact I believe the TTC acknowledges that their history stems from 1921 (the opening of the Toronto Transportation Commission). • Agree The Transportation Commission article is rather poorly written, and in fact, doesn't even confine itself to the 1920-1954 period. IMHO there should be a single page for History of Toronto Transit, that includes sections for both the Toronto Transportation Commission and the Toronto Transit Commission.
