Work needed[edit]

I went through and cleaned up the most egregious of the grammatical issues but there is still much to be done to bring this article up to standards, especially sourcing wise.

Most of the good sources are in Korean, so someone skilled in English and Korean should beef up the article or at the very least translate the much more substantial Korean language version of the article.

Victims section is confusing[edit]

The "Victims" section could be worded better to clarify whether the people were from, or found murdered in the places that are mentioned. Also, it isn't clear whether the dates are when they were killed, or when they were found. Rystheguy (talk) 05:35, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kang Ho SunKang Ho-sun – Proper name per naming customs. Fixer88 (talk) 20:01, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Project guidelines don't override WP:COMMONNAME, but in this case WP:COMMONNAME supports the move. Of the sources cited in the article:
    • Only one (The Standard (Hong Kong) [1]) spells his name with a space in "Ho Sun". (English newspapers in South Korea never use this style for anyone's name, regardless of personal preference, because they understand that it is confusing to international readers).
    • Only one more source uses a capital "S" (Ho-Sun; Western Australia Today [2])
    • All of the others (including South Korean media like Korea Herald [3] and Chosun Ilbo [4], as well as foreign media like Fox News [5] and BBC News [6]) use "Ho-sun" or "Ho-soon", with a hyphen and a lowercase s; they only differ about whether the vowel should be transcribed "u" or "oo"
FWIW, judging from Google, "Kang Ho-sun" (with any capitalisation/spacing) seems about 4x more common than "Kang Ho-soon", but I didn't look very closely at the results to make sure they're all about the same person. quant18 (talk) 03:02, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
