Perhaps is would be good to add a paragraph on the ecology of the kaya forests? For example, what type of forest, and what climate are they? 185.55.60.122 (talk) 09:40, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong intro[edit]

The lemma is wrong ; "kaya" as such does not mean forest at all, it denotes a living place, traditionally rather a village, in todays Swahili it is used for the homestead of a family. The article is about the wooded areas which now grow over the first settlements of the Mijikenda or forests close to the villages or homesteads which were used (or still are) for ritual and worship purposes, similar to the concept of sacred groves in other cultures. It has a reason that the UNESCO list does not talk baout "Sacred Kayas of the Mijikenda" but about the "Sacred Kaya Forests". Should be moved. Kipala (talk) 19:19, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
