Detail[edit]

I have asked the major contributor to this article on at least two occasions whether they could perhaps trim some of the excess detail from it. It doesn't look like that is happening. Is there any reason why we have to have such material here, much of which seems to be based on primary sources and on non-independent, non-English sources published during the Raj period. (None of those three qualifiers are necessarily bad, but when all three coincide together I think we might have problems). - Sitush (talk) 06:23, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am asking again. This really is a dreadful article - far too much detail that is basically a series of lists in prose form, and far too much reliance on sources that we wouldn't usually accept. Last chance saloon: if no-one can sort it out then I will gut it. - Sitush (talk) 07:05, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Much agreed. This article is certainly overlong and indeed has the feeling of a record book or list simply placed in a paragraph form. In my view, shortening is strongly needed to help with readability. The article as it currently stands seems to better fit a reference book specifically on contributions to Indian railways, and not an encyclopedic overview fit for Wikipedia. Hi, dear Sitush, how r u? As you have pointed out earlier also, I admit, the article needs other english based sources too. But its era of early railway history of India, and further sources are difficult to find. However, you can trim it your way, if you feel so. Have a nice day. Bye, Take care of your health.
