Combination Square[edit]

I can't seem to find the first patent for a combination square. Company history says 1878 was the date, but I can only find this is in 1883: http://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?Docid=00282583198.58.150.217 (talk) 00:33, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Search results from inside books from 1800 to 1890 turned up a few from 1868, 1869, 1875. Here's the URL: https://www.google.com/search?tbo=p&tbm=bks&q=%22combination+square%22&tbs=,cdr:1,cd_min:Jan+1_2+1800,cd_max:Dec+31_2+1890&num=100. I got there by going to Google Books > Advanced Search at https://books.google.com/advanced_book_search, then searching for the exact phrase "combination square" with dates 1800 to 1890. You could play around with the parameters and maybe find some more. Regards, — ¾-10 00:59, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
