Full name?[edit]

Hi all,
As noted here, there seems to be a dispute about whether Areum's full name should be either (a) part in hanja, part in hangul or {b) all in hanja. It is rather complex. To start off the discussion: if Areum regards her full name with hanja as "李아름", then there is a problem with using with using {{Infobox Korean name}} as the hanja and hangul parameters would seem to me to be mutually exclusive.
Your thoughts about this? --Shirt58 (talk) 10:16, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! I'm really failing to understand why users keep rendering her given name "아름" as "雅凜". "아름" is a Native Korean word and is not a Sino-Korean word of Chinese origin, therefore, it is only ever written exclusively in Hangul. Hanja does NOT equal Chinese, it is the implementation of Chinese characters for writing the Korean language. If you don't want to take my word for it, you can have a look at an online dictionary where it explicitly shows that 아름 does not have any corresponding Hanja as it is a native Korean word.

I'm totally confused also, I read that Areum/Ahreum (아름) is unique to Korean. But I believe that I also read that some people mix the two in their names. Can't we get a copy of her driver's license? --  :- ) Don 22:15, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Shirt58, I am confused about your opinion on this issue. On this talk page and your edit summaries, you seem to favour mixed Hanja and Hangul, while your edits seem to favour all Hanja. While I am not familiar with the issue, IMO when there is no corresponding Hanja for a native Korean word, we shouldn't add any Hanja. To add any Hanja where there is none to begin with would seem to constitute WP:OR. From another viewpoint, according to your edit summary Lee Areum herself prefers mixed 李아름, so I think we should respect her preference and use the mixed name. --Joshua Say "hi" to me!What I've done? 13:44, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think Shirt58 just wanted to get people to agree on a solution. I wanted the reverts to stop. I think that has been accomplished and I thank him for his patient intervention. --  :- ) Don 19:34, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
