There are some inconsistancies on this page regarding previous and subsequent designations of the listed squadrons. No immediately previous designations (some were Aircraft Control Squadrons or Tactical Control Squadrons) are given. Only immediately subsequent designations of some to Radar Squadrons are included, no other redesignations. I would include a brief statement (formerly 638th Tactical Control Squadron), (redesignated 636th Radar Squadron) in each case.

Then there is the matter of dates. Editors of this page have relied heavily on Cornett & Johnson, which does not cover the period when Air Defense Command was a sub-command of Continental Air Command. Most Jan 1951 dates in the list are not the date these squadrons were activated, but are the date they were transferred from CONAC to ADC. On the end date some entries provide the date of inactivation under another designation (typically RADS), others note the redesignation as a RADS and then give the inactivation date as a RADS. Since this is a list of AC&WS, I think that should be the basis for all dates. It is not a place to give full lineages for the squadron (should subsequent designation as an Air Control Squadon be added as well? What about very early designations? At least one squadron was a Fighter Control Squadron in WW II, two were Signal Aircraft Warning Battalions, and four are succesors of lettered companies of a Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion.

I have corrected most of the incosistancies on the page and assessed in light of this. Air National Guard units are still missing. For Discussion: I think this calls for a discussion under the reference section, rather than repeating references to Cornett & Johnson hundreds of times. That would permit a reassessment. 608 AC&W Squadron patch

"List of United States Air Force aircraft control and warning squadrons" article is missing this photo. I would add it myself, but don't know how. If you know how, please add it to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bendyna (talkcontribs) 19:10, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
