Citations[edit]

Is any of this cited? -- Tawker 06:23, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Guess not; I've tagged with unreferenced. Some of the assertions seem pretty radical. —dto 04:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sections[edit]

Might be a good idea to split this into sections. Maybe by letter, gender, or type of cheerleading (high school, college, all-star, professional, etc.).

More selective list[edit]

Our list of cheerleaders should be more selective. It should list famous cheerleaders, not cheerleaders who later became famous. For example, Krazy George Henderson is only famous for being a cheerleader, while Paula Abdul's fame can be directly attributed to her stint with the Laker Girls. However, I found no reference to cheerleading during a quick glance at Christina Aguilera, and only a passing mention of Teri Hatcher's gig with the 49ers Gold Rush. The first two I think qualify for this list as famous cheerleaders, while the latter two should be removed as they are famous people who happened to be a cheerleader at one point in their lives. Associations[edit]

Some of the people listed here have links with them to denote who they cheered for but some of these links are to the squad that they cheered with and some of the links are to the team that their squad cheered for. I think that we should pick one or the other and make that consistent throughout the article.ITasteLikePaint (talk) 15:57, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested criteria commented[edit]

Alphabetized the list, moved cited names from the cheerleading article to this list, see it's talk page. Also put a hidden comment in the code to cite sources. Hope this reflects consensus. --Sultec (talk) 21:56, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additions[edit]

I started adding names that I know, but am realizing that all names have citations. I do not have citations for the following Rose Catherine Pinkney (Captain for the Princeton Teams that I participated on), Sarah Shahi (I believe Dallas Cowboys) and Teri Hatcher (I believe San Francisco 49ers).--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:03, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

notable?[edit]

George W. Bush, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Steve Martin, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Aaron Spelling are "notable cheerleaders"? I don't think so. Three of them are notable politicians and two notable in entertainment business. And, I haven't seen male cheerleaders virtually anywhere. Well, I haven't seen much of the American sports league matchers, but seeing their cheerleading articles in wikipedia, there seems to be no males. Or is it practised only in high schools and universities? 85.217.32.182 (talk) 17:38, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Better List Needed[edit]

As others have stated, this page needs people added to the list who were actually famous for cheerleading and contributed to the sport. You have a list of famous cheerleaders yet it doesn't even include people like Johnny Campbell and Lawrence Herkimer, or more recent additions like gabi butler. 2600:6C5E:2400:3B8B:4170:65CE:8952:169F (talk) 05:21, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
