Miles to go before I sleep...[edit]

There are quite a few more hill forts on the Welsh Wicipedia, quite a few more - a good place to start upgrading this article. Take a look [here]. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Llywelyn2000 (talkcontribs) 20:00, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Atlas of Hillforts[edit]

The Atlas of Hillforts is a new, publicly accessible site created to map and describe all hillforts in the British Isles. As well as creating its own site, the Atlas has shared some data about each site with Wikidata. On the project page we are listing tasks related to the data import, where help is welcomed. One possibility is of overhauling list-of-hillforts articles by adapting drafts created by ListeriaBot. See the prototype being worked on at User:MartinPoulter/Hillforts. With a bit of work, we could make this list much more detailed and complete. MartinPoulter (talk) 13:43, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Conwy Hillforts[edit]

I've moved all the Conwy county hillforts out of 'Clwyd' and created a new 'Conwy' section for them, updating the location and adding links to external sources that contain more and better information. I have also added some new hillforts that weren't on the list, including 'Pen-y-Dinas', 'Bryn Euryn' and 'Castell Cawr'. Unsure whether to add the former site on Penmaenmawr, 'Braich-y-Dinas' as it has been entirely destroyed by quarrying. Update to this, I added the sites as they seem to show up on most of the lists I was looking at. Telenarn (talk) 00:58, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Telenarn: I think it makes sense to include sites that no longer exist. Historic Environment Records often includes details on sites that have been built over, and the Atlas of Hillforts includes Briach-y-Dinas. Richard Nevell (talk) 23:21, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of the Atlas, I think it would be worth considering using it to update the page here. The information is sitting in Wikidata, and could be used to automatically create a list in a sandbox which can then be copied over. Richard Nevell (talk) 23:27, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard Nevell: Thanks Richard, I went ahead and did that, going so far as to make a new English-language Wikipedia page (for Braich-y-Dinas) for posterity. The resource you pointed out certainly seems to have a lot more information than I realised on first glance, although I'm nowhere near proficient enough to carry out your suggestions as things stand. If it's not too complicated I'll be able to figure it out, although I think my main focus for the present will be on making new English-language pages for the missing sites on the Conwy list. Baby steps... Telenarn (talk) 00:58, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard Nevell:The new list looks fantastic! Did all he new information come from the Atlas? It's a huge bonus having the coordinates listed for each site.Telenarn (talk) 00:32, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
