Borough mayors complete?[edit]

Since I couldn't stay awake today long enough to get real work done, I instead tried reading various things. I found various issues of the Alaska Local Government newsletter published during the 1960s by the Office of the Governor, which handled local government affairs in the executive branch prior to the 1972 establishment of the Alaska Department of Community and Regional Affairs (which in turn is a division-level unit of the present-day Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development). It's actually pretty safe to say that the borough only had the two mayors. A 1964 issue of the aforementioned newsletter polled the new boroughs about their structure and progress, with GJB reporting that the mayor had a four-year term of office. An early 1970 issue contained a directory of officials, which listed Charney as mayor (or chairman, as they called borough mayors in Alaska back then for who-the-fuck-knows whatever reason). The publication issued about a year afterward listed the unified municipality, with Joe McLean as mayor. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 01:49, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
