Name Insertion[edit]

The list is missing quite a few notable names; there was a recent entry on RPG.net pointing to this post, so we may see more. BTW, the current last edit (17:49, 12 September 2006 68.208.204.5 (Talk) (Mr. Vezina put himself in as a joke per his post on RPGNet forums;) is incorrect -- the name was present a while back, and he certainly belongs to the list (google his name for RPG books). Should we revert?

Adding new authors to the list[edit]

I just wanted to clarify who is who concerning the authors I just added to the list:

USA:

SPAIN:

  • Ricard Ibáñez (created Aquelarre in 1990, the first spanish RPG. Later, in 2002, he created the RPG Alatriste)
  • Igor Arriola (co-created Mutantes en la sombra in 1991, the second spanish RPG. He also co-created Ragnarok in 1992 and participated in the design of the ¡Piratas! game system)
  • José Felix Garzón (co-created Mutantes en la sombra in 1991, the second spanish RPG)
  • Juan An Romero-Salazar (created ¡Piratas! in 1994, the first spanish RPG about piracy)
  • Carlos Monzón (co-created Ragnarok and co-created the ¡Piratas! game system)
  • José Antonio Tellaetxe Isusi (participated in the creation of Ragnarok and ¡Piratas! and is nowadays chairman of Ludotecnia, which is, excepting Aquelarre, the edition house of all the cited spanish RPG)

Done. You can't create it yourself, George, but you should meet the criteria for an article as an RPG author - I've added your name to the articles on two games you wrote, and put you on the list here. When I get around to it, I will create your author article (which should meet notability criteria as the creator of two well-publicized licensed RPGs) - unless someone else beats me to it. Re: Redlinks[edit]

I had thought "we" were allowing redlinks on this page. All of the redlinks deleted today were either for articles I have in draft, or ones I intend to write "soon". Is there a reason we aren't allowed to have redlinks here? Newimpartial (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:LISTPEOPLE. While I don't doubt that the additions are notable and you'll eventually create articles for them, the guideline is good to follow because it discourages the addition of non-notable and vanity list entries in other areas. Adding more authors[edit]

The policy page for lists reads: If the person is famous for a specific event, the notability requirement need not be met. If a person in a list does not have a Wikipedia article about them, a citation (or link to another article) must be provided to: a) establish their membership in the list's group; and b) establish their notability on either BLP1E or BIO1E. I take this to mean that if a person has authored (but not merely contributed to) a notable game, they should be allowed in the list so long as the notable game has been bluelinked. This seems reasonable to me, so unless there is a policy-based objection, after I finish the gnoming I am currently doing to the list, the next stage will be to add the authors of some notable games, starting with the most obvious gaps from the list (Luke Crane, come on down!). I will rewrite the inclusion criteria to fit the practice, as well. Newimpartial (talk) 18:37, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just to be clear, I was pointing to this as an example to follow, not as a policy to be Wikilawyered. If I add any entries, they will all be individuals who clearly pass WP:NAUTHOR; the multiple independent sources that establish Notability (and in the case of Luke Crane, the multiple industry awards that very clearly meet NAUTHOR 1) will be visible in the Bluelinks, and I will not be adding random bluelinks without being sure that the sourcing shows that the author meets NAUTHOR.
