Missing pages of TV channels[edit]

Following are some of the Pakistan TV channels that do not have a separate Wikipedia page. It is suggested to create them:

Television and radio stations[edit]

why we have two separate list for same topic. One list is "List of Pakistani television stations" which has only names of television stations in Pakistan. Other list is "List of Pakistani television and radio channels" with names of television and radio channels. I dont know why some people are insisting on having a list with both television and radio channels. They are two different medium. We can have two separate list, one for television and other for radio as:

"List of Pakistani television stations"

and other is

"List of Pakistani radio stations"

I dont see any problem. please comment. --Spasage 06:45, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Don't merge. The Television and radio stations in Pakistan must have sepearate pages. Pakistan with five regional languages and 165 million people will have hundreds of radio and television stations. The online radio stations are also becaming easier and cheaper to maintain, soon people will adding these channels also. The mass media is exploding and one page will not be enough. We must have seperate pages:
List of Television Stations of Pakistan
List of Radio Stations of Pakistan

  • Don't Merge As noted above. - Sohailstyle 15 May 2006, 13:49 (UTC)
  • Don't Merge I agree with the comments, there should be a separate section for TV and radio. - Fast track 29 July 2006, 22:21 (UTC)

Everyone Read This Before Making Changes![edit]

Ok we need to set down some rules before this page becomes a complete disaster (it's already looking like it mind you). You can't just come in and start editing anything you want. Please use the discussion page and write down what you are going to do. There are so many channels here with NO reference or link! On top of that many of these channels are just repeats like ARY Digital (Asia and ME are the same aren't they so why have two seperate channels?).

The main thing I want to bring forth is the setup of this page how do you all want it. We can use the old way or we can use the new table. Open to suggestions!

Please make a rule that no new channel will be added until it has got a reliable reference (any news story, official site etc). For example, there are many TV channels listed, about whom i got NOTHING when I tried to search on Google. For example, Circle News, Metro One, A Plus, K2, Hazara TV etc. Also, no cable TV's inhouse channels should be there. Only satellite channels.

Secondly, the table-view is very confusing. Please stick to the current view. We can create a new article, that will contain frequencies and satellite information of channels in tabular form.

DON'T MERGE - There should be separate lists of Tv and Radio Channels and their details, to make a search easy for the person who is looking for information, if you merge it it messes up the search. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.133.72.89 (talk) 07:06, August 21, 2007 (UTC)

I created this page but people messed with it, so i started a new one "List of Pakistani Television Channels" and keeping it as clean and authenticated as possible. so please don't mess with it again. i strongly suggest "DON'T MERGE".

Second i completely agree "no new channel will be added until it has got a reliable reference".

Third about the page layout, i think simple is better. no need for putting satellite info, frequencies or stuff like that.

If channel has International dedicated beams, then it should be mentioned, like ARY and Geo's channels. They are not repeats but they are dedicated channels for specific regions, as they are mentioned on their websites.

Best Regards.

Mr Afazl,

You are surely managing a good web page but remember, you neither own Wikipedia nor any of its pages (except the user page, if you have any). When you create a page on WIkipedia, you are simply contributing to Wikipedia project and helping others.

The two main points in your message:

I created this page but people messed with it, so i started a new one "List of Pakistani Television Channels" and keeping it as clean and authenticated as possible.

There is absolutely no need for two identical pages. We have to either merge them or delete one of the pages.

so please don't mess with it again. i strongly suggest "DON'T MERGE".

As I said, you don't own any article on Wikipedia and me & other Wikipedia users may "mess" with the page if they see that it needs some editing.

Arsalanj 06:42, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Arsalan,

Thanks for the comments. First of all i know i don't own anything on Wikipedia and i havn't said anything like that. i won't say anything more on that. Second i know both pages are identical, but this page has much more crap than, i dare to say "My Page". If you don't like any page why bother visiting it. Third you are welcome to "Mess" with any page but in good manner. People do contribute in good or bad way and what i do is just delete what is wrong and keep the good stuff. Last this discussion or arguments won't help us in any way. tomorrow there will be someone else starting something new forcing you to do what he/she want. i've been through all this. why can't we Pakistani stay united and incourage each other. Anyway i won't say anything more. Good luck to you. I again suggest "Don't Merge".

Afzal 20:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Afzal,

What do you suggest? Do you want "List of Pakistani television stations" to be deleted? It is more than confusing to have two pages on the same subject. I'm not favoring or denouncing any of these two pages but I think that we should decide on a page template (by taking example of pages of list of TV channels of other countries) and modify the page as per that template and delete the other page.

Also, we need to create new pages for TV channels, who do not have a page (it can be 2-3 lines only).

Looking forward for your suggestions

Arsalanj 12:43, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to create pages for all television channels. Your help is rewuired. Thanks Managerarc (talk) 19:30, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Arsalan,

Thanks again for positive response. I'll be more than relieved to have someone to do a proper job together. I was too thinking of modifying the page, but i'm still not familiar with some technicalities of page templates. I started this page when there was no info on any Pakistani channels list on Wikipedia. so i started with taking examples from other countries pages. Now we can again take examples from other pages.

About deleting any page, i did this before with this page before starting a new one and sadly i had to start a new page. I won't mind if we delete both pages and start a fresh page with enhancements. but people won't let you do. so we have to detelte a page permanently so no one can "Undo".

Yeah we have to start pages for those channels who still aren't up on Wikipedia. But channels must be "Live" at that moment. short description about the channel and logo whould be enough. I have a suggestion here, instead of starting a new page for every single channel why not add short discription and logo of channel in channels list. Only the big network channels like Geo, ARY, Indus etc. have a seperate page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Khan Afzal (talkcontribs) 00:08, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

For now i would suggest first we decide and plan where to start. I'll be more than happy if we could work together. :)

Regards.

Inclusion criteria[edit]

As stated at Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists, Wikipedia:Notability#Stand-alone lists and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists#Adding individual items to a list:-

  1. All lists must have clearly defined inclusion criteria
  2. Every entry should meet the notability criteria for its own article. Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the list, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future. This prevents indiscriminate lists, and prevents individual lists from being too large to be useful to readers.
  3. Editors may, at their discretion, choose to limit large lists by only including entries for independently notable items or those with Wikipedia articles.
  4. All items on the list must follow Wikipedia's core content policies of Verifiability (through good sources in the item's one or more references), No original research, and Neutral point of view

This was discussed 8 years ago (see above) - and it was agreed that the list should be limited to channels with their own Wikipedia article, or cite a detailed reference.
All redlinks, without a verifiable citation, should be removed and those with a citation should only remain if it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming.
Personally, I would like to "choose to limit the list to entries with a Wikipedia articles", and eliminate all redlinks - as point 3 above - but that, unlike the criteria immediately above - is a matter for consensus.
Arjayay (talk) 17:49, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I note that no-one has disagreed with my proposal "to limit the list to entries with a Wikipedia articles", as proposed on 12 December 2015 - so I take that as the consensus on the inclusion criteria for this list - Arjayay (talk) 09:18, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Missing news channels from "former" and "current" sections[edit]

As for the current news channel, you are missing "Talon News" idk why its not letting me provide a link to their YouTube channel. But i do see them on national t.v and they should be added. As for the former section,i swear seeing a channel called "PAK" news or something like that and I believe it was launched besides BOL and was operated by the same parent company cuz they both advertised each other's stuff,i can't find anything about it but i'll look further DrWineBerry (talk) 13:56, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As is clearly stated, repeatedly, in the list <!---♦♦♦ Only add a channel to this list if it already has its own article on the English Wikipedia ♦♦♦--->
As has already been explained to you at Talk:List of news channels in Pakistan: "Talon News is an American parody website" - "There is no article about the Pakistani Talon news on the English Wikipedia, so it is ineligible for inclusion".
If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. - Arjayay (talk) 14:08, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
damn you're the same guy,ig i'll create one myself. DrWineBerry (talk) 16:13, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
