ALbum Cover[edit]

this link has the album cover: http://mariahcarey.com/news/news.php?uid=2952 can someone put it on please. I have also added a recorded tracks section as well as the first single as i have provided sources from Mariah's verified twitter and also from mariahcarey.com, her website. calvin999 (talk) 14:50, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added album art. The link you gave had the album art, but it could not be obtained. So I got it from Mariahjournal. Novice7 (talk) 15:56, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Cool thanks. calvin999 (talk) 17:03, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh Santa Premiere?[edit]

I read on some blog that it gets radio premiere on October 11 and iTunes download on October 12. But it's a forum. Can we add that or should we wait for official announcement? Novice7 (talk) 11:37, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Forums are never allowed as sources. Jayy008 (talk) 14:21, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, we shall wait for official announcement. Novice7 (talk) 05:22, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You could get away with MariahJournal, though. Jayy008 (talk) 13:26, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
RAP-UP says its released October 12, 2010 -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 15:47, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Create/Open Oh Santa page[edit]

Has premiered on AOL today, radio debut and iTunes release on the 11th October, we know the length of the song and there is the CD artwork available now: http://www.mariahjournal.com/cgi-bin/iSay.cgi?Page=Comments&ID=EklVAFylVkcJCZuduR Less than 2 weeks to go now and it should be opened.calvin999 (talk) 17:32, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, its produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox. Rap-Up has it. Let's open up. Novice7 (talk) 04:13, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why has it been closed off?!?!?!! calvin999 (talk) 16:06, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:NSONGS it has to be notable. I'm not sure it is yet. However if you feel different create the song in a sandbox (e.g. User:Calvin999/Oh Santa), using full references but no images and then we can take it from their. If others agree its notability it can be moved to the article mainspace by admins. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 17:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't get how it isn't notable. You can buy it as of monday, i'm sure the video will be released next week, performances and promotion are coming soon, the page can only grow. calvin999 (talk) 18:36, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I said create the page in your sandbox (link i provided) and then we can look at how many reliable sources there are. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 18:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
it's open now anyway lol. thanks anyway,calvin999 (talk) 23:22, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid its being closed and will not open again until notability is proven. It needs significant independent coverage. 2-3 sources which produce a maximum of 2 paragraphs does not quantify notability per WP:NSONGS. Songs are only given their own articles when there is sufficient detail. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 23:28, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why hasn't the Oh Santa page been opened yet? It's now on sale, everyone's talking about it and it's in the news. CyanIsland (talk) 17:39, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You obviousy aren't aware of WP:NSONGS -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 20:15, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I really do think it should be opened up now, it's more notable now than it will ever be. Been released, we know it's lead single, music video has been shot, it debuted at #1 on holidays digital charts, single artwork is official, we know the length, who wrote it, who produced it, who directed the video. we have enough info on it. calvin999 (talk) 11:31, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NSONGS it clearly says notability aside, to create an independent article there should be enough reliable information for a detailed article. I still don't think that's the case here. The video has not premiered and the Hot Holiday Digital Songs chart is a very minor chart. If you feel its notable create it in your sandbox at User:Calvin999/Oh Santa! without any images/cover then we can see exactly what coverage is available. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 16:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK i will, but i want to be able to use the format of what is already on the Oh Santa page as it already has info i would use in addition to everything else, can u open it up to just me or let me view it? calvin999 (talk) 00:58, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with calvin999 on the track and now the song has debuted at #12 on the Adult Contemporary, there is enough information. chepetoño (talk) 12:25, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How can you agree with Calvin? When the user wanted it open it wasn't notable. Now, it is. It won't be redirected as long as you make the page notable enough with reception and charting. Jayy008 (talk) 00:04, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

UK release date is wrong[edit]

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=472012 calvin999 (talk) 12:05, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And the UK is getting the Deluxe Edition now. also on HMV website. calvin999 (talk) 12:08, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So be WP:BOLD and update it! -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 13:52, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would but i usually muck up the table and someone always ends up correcting it! haha. but i see someone has changed it but it table has been mucked up so...! haha calvin999 (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Japan Bonus Track needs to be added[edit]

Japan will be getting a 14 song tracklisting because they get an Oh Santa! Jump Smokers Remix. Can someone add it under the iTunes bonus track please? Confirmed by a source given on MariahDaily.com calvin999 (talk) 12:56, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should learn to do all these things. If you look at the one above it, copy and paste, then just change the relevant information. That's how I learnt, however lazy that is. Jayy008 (talk) 14:43, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i don't know an actual link for it because i don't know where CD's etc are sold in Japan. And on Amazon.jp, it's all in Japanese, so i can provide the link, but it can't be checked unless you can speak the language. But there is a source on MariahDaily.com without the link provided, but i don't know if that would be accepted or be enough. PLUS< whenever i make changes to a page, it ALWAYS gets changed back, theni have to write it here, then it's ok for me to do it. So no, it's not a case of me being lazy, because whatever i do is always changed, that's why i write it in the discussion to get other opinion first otherwise it's a waste of time... calvin999 (talk) 21:37, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was saying my way is lazy. Anyway, if you use Google Chrome, it translates it for you. Japanese sources are Amazon and HMV. Jayy008 (talk) 22:08, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't know how to put the drop bar in for it.calvin999 (talk) 13:51, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it for now. Let's wait for the duration for now. Novice7 talk 15:33, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

A reception section should be added now there are many reviews. They're all listed here, with direct linking to the sights the reviews come from. I will do the work myself, but it will take me a week or so. So anybody who wants to add it, the source is above. Jayy008 (talk)

Well allot of those are not major reviewers except Rap-up. I'd say we wait another week until it comes out and critics review it on Metacritic or something.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 00:25, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
US Weekly has reviewed the album link. Shouldn't we add it? Novice7 (Talk) 11:08, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I saw that too. If you want you could start adding that. We could also use the Rap-up info to start a "composition" section. In the next week we'll have allot more reviews, so sure go ahead and start.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 11:12, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're right! Let's wait Nathan. Even if I start a Critical response section, we only have US Weekly and maybe Rap-Up for Composition section. Just like you mentioned earlier, next week we would have a lot, and then we can start. Thanks for letting me know about the "Composition" section. I had forgotten about that. :) Novice7 (Talk) 11:31, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup no problem! We'll work on it together :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 02:04, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

album leaked!!!!!!!!!!!![edit]

the album has been leaked!! should we mention this? http://elbo.ws/post/2920260/mariah-careys-merry-christmas-ii-you-has-leaked/ http://thedailyconservative.net/2010/10/25/mariah-careys-%E2%80%9Cmerry-christmas-ii-you%E2%80%9D-has-leaked-%C2%AB-loft965-2/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Popiconmc (talkcontribs) 15:29, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We need not add that information. It's not notable I guess. See WP:LEAK for further info. Novice7 (Talk) 15:44, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stop and opening Oh Santa page!![edit]

I don't get how it can become any more notable, what else is there to say? It's a buzz single, just open it and leave it!! calvin999 (talk) 21:20, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a buzz single. And don't tell people what to do. It's the first official single. To make it notable it needs: reviews and important charts. Like the Billboard Hot 100 or any charts from around the world. See Wikipedia:NSONGS for full information and guidelines. Jayy008 (talk) 21:23, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well her record label said it's a buzz single so... . And i'm not telling people what to do, it's just getting annoying that it keeps being open then shut then opened again then shut again. If you leave it open then it will obviously become more notable as people will get the chance to expand it, but that can't happen if you keep sealed off all the time can it. calvin999 (talk) 20:42, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's possible. But as it stands right now, it hasn't reached a notable chart. When/if it charts on the Hot 100, then it's automatically fine. Jayy008 (talk) 22:48, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews[edit]

I'm too lazy to add it myself, but I found a review at Slant, anyone care to add it? Ga Be 19 19:16, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

here's another one from Rolling Stone. Ga Be 19 23:26, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Charts[edit]

the album debuted at #4 on Billboard Top 200. It's time a chart was made listing the US and the chart position. calvin999 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.224.242 (talk) 17:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chart Performance[edit]

In it's opening week in the US, the album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 55,490 copies, surpassing the opening week sales of Carey's previous Holiday album Merry Christmas of 45,000 copies, making Merry Christmas II You Carey's 16th Consecutive Top 10 album. The album also debuted at #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Holiday Charts>.

Oh Santa - Bonus Tracks Sections[edit]

Are the iTunes bonus and the Japan bonus track the same? They both show a time of 3:53. I don't see a name (e.g. the Weird Silly Mix or whatever it is) given on the iTunes bonus track. CycloneGU (talk) 05:22, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some sources for expansion, will start working on the article over the next few days.

Orphaned references in Merry Christmas II You[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Merry Christmas II You's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
