Chugachik Island Site[edit]

Well, this is sort of a tricky thing to resolve, but I find it unlikely that this site is in Homer. Homer, Alaska does not contain any islands. A landspit of four miles, but no islands. We can see numerous islands from here on a clear day, some over 70 miles distant, but none of them are within the city. However, the exact location is restricted. I would suggest that, as an island identified is in Homer, it is almost certainly in Kachemak Bay but not within the city of Homer itself. But i wouldn't want to add that without some sort of source. Ideas? Beeblebrox (talk) 22:51, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it seems the island itself is listed at GNIS at U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System: Chugachik Island, and if you search it on Gooogle maps it shows right where the island is. It is indeed in Kachemak Bay, directly across form Kachemak Selo, well outside of the actual city of Homer in an area that is for the most part unpopulated. I suppose the remoteness of the site makes it prone to looting or whatever and that is why its exact location is restricted. So, is that enough contradiction to re-define this location as "Kachemak Bay" as opposed to "Homer"? Beeblebrox (talk) 23:07, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
