Hi. I'm new to wikipedia but my grandfather Flight Lieutenant John Nedwich DFC, DSO served in this squadron (Nos. 463/467) and was a Pathfinder, so if I can help in any way, I'd be more than happy to. I have cloth maps, flight logs, photos etc from missions over Germany from 1943-1944 in my possession. I'll try and work out any way I can help but if someone can give me some pointers that would be great too. 266biggles (talk) 11:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RAF or RAAF[edit]

I think you will find that the ONLY RAAF squadron in the ETO was No. 10 Squadron RAAF, flying Sunderlands out of RAF Pembroke Dock. The Commonwealth squadrons, of which 467 Squadron was one, were RAF squadrons and did not become part of the RAAF / RCAF until they were repatriated! An exception was the SAAF squadrons which never became part of the RAF, operating jointly.--Petebutt (talk) 17:20, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Are you suggesting changes to the text, or a change to the article name? I think the sources generally refer to these as RAAF squadrons, and that's what should guide us; the article also seems pretty clear that these were nonetheless only 'nominally' Australian squadrons. Agreed - sources generally call them RAAF squadrons. I'm pretty sure that I've seen wartime era photos and works which refer to them as "RAAF". As various articles note, most weren't actually under Australian control, and Australians were a minority in some of them for much or all of their existence.
