Moved from user talk page[edit]

This play has Produce Portugal and Sri Lanka. I believe this information should add to Wikipedia encyclopedia. I add this information and don't remove. (Jetskere (talk) 02:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)) [moved here from user talk page by NYScholar (talk) 08:40, 9 February 2009 (UTC)][reply]

Unsourced or improperly sourced material can be removed; it is not clear why these productions are notable enough to include in this article. One of the productions has no source after it; the other source is not properly formatted. I'll try to verify it again later, but the last time it was included, the URL did not go to a source of information about the production(s). See links in talkheader for Wikipedia editing policies, espec. WP:V and WP:Notability. Thanks. (I made a few typographical corrs., but some others still needed in what was added.) --NYScholar (talk) 08:40, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Material removed due to insufficient documentation sources & dubious notability[edit]

[Does not meet Wikipedia verification and notability standards. The productions currently listed are major productions. How are these major productions and notable enough to include in this article? Generally, such articles on plays include major productions and their details must be fully documented (sourced) with reliable and verifiable sources that everyone can consult. --NYScholar (talk) 09:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC) (These appear to be amateur productions. Professionally-reviewed professional productions are generally included in such articles about the works of a major playwright such as Pinter in Wikipedia. --NYScholar (talk) 09:22, 9 February 2009 (UTC)][reply]

Notes[edit]

[This source provided does not document the two productions listed above or their notability; all it has in it that relates is "One For The Road - Malaka Dewapriya". This is not adequate as documentation of the details of these two productions. The citation also would need name of author, title of article, date of publication, etc. to match prevailing citation format of this Wik. article.]

One For the Road Sri Lanka Production[edit]

You can see some information about this Production Following this link http://www.thesundayleader.lk/20030713/arts.htm I have Find out more Production details and other webs In Sri Lanka Language . So I believe you cannot Read and i cannot include to Wikipedia according to polices . One for the road Pinter's major drama which against to violence.it has produced In Sri Lanka professional level and won award From State and Youth Drama festival 2001 and 2003. I notice there are lot of productions.I Believe All foreign production should be Include to This Page. Please give this permission Include this Sri Lanakan Production Details. it is great way to find out production information about One for the road who going to read Wikipedia.

(Jets (talk) 15:54, 9 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

That link does not provide the production details listed above. One cannot verify the detail via that link. If you used other Websites/Webpages/online sources for the details in Sri Lanka language and translated them into English, you need to give the precise URLs and full citations so other readers can see your sources. Otherwise you are doing what is called "original research", which is not permitted in Wikipedia: see link above to WP:NOR. Why don't you consider putting the information (with appropriate documentation through reliable verifiable sources) in Sri Lanka language-Wikipedia article on the play, if these productions are notable enough to include there. These are amateur productions and "all foreign production[s]" are not notable enough to be included in this article. There are scores of such productions; there are far too many to list. See the note I added about that. Pinter's own official Website (already listed in EL section) is a source of some of those productions. It is not necessary, feasible, or desirable to list all foreign productions of the play in this article in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a olace "to find out production information about One for the Road" etc. There are specialized articles, books, and bibliograhoies for doing that, and doing that also involves what Wikipedia would consider "original research". This is not an article about foreign productions of One for the Road; it's a article about the play. Please see the links to the literature and theatre portals above, which may be helpful.

(Cont.) I appreciate your own interest in Sri Lanka and its film and theatre productions; but that is not the subject of this article. A more appropriate place to list this director's productions of this play would be in the article that you contribute on him; the linking of the title One for the Road (Harold Pinter play) there (in that article) would make it possible to read it in conjunction with this article. Perhaps after you created the development, you could add his name as a Wikipedia link to a "See also" section here. (I can provide that as an example.) --NYScholar (talk) 04:19, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
After attempting to do some editorial work on that article, I have recognized that the subject's notability is highly dubious, and I agree with earlier editors that it needs to be marked for deletion from this encyclopedia. The subject is a student whose notability is mainly local in Colombo, Sri lanka, and the article seems promotional and/or self-promotional and depends on several sources that are self-published by the subject (Blog or also mainly from newspapers known only locally in Colombo, Sri Lanka. --NYScholar (talk) 06:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Further Updates[edit]

Since commenting above, I've developed sources and format of the other article, but it is clear that the production removed from this article was an amateur student production and not notable enough for mention in the section of professional productions developed in this article. --NYScholar (talk) 06:32, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[Note: Earlier versions of this article by another editor(s) lifted much of the material from the following personal self-published Website by the student director ([1]): the content was almost verbatim moved from that site into this Wikipedia space; cf. 26425644. That is a violation of Wikipedia editing policies. This article has been rewritten since that version and documented with reliable and verifiable third-party published sources. --NYScholar (talk) 07:41, 12 February 2009 (UTC)][reply]

Unsourced information edited for format and moved here[edit]

The following (edited for format) was added by another editor w/o any sources for verification; it is not clear that this production is notable enough to include in this article and without sources, there is no way to verify the accuracy of names given; the use of bold print did not follow WP:MOS; edited the heading and rest of format; not clear who or what the name is that followed the preposition "with".

Bulevar Theatre, Madrid, 2008[edit]

In 2008, a Spanish production of One for the Road adapted by Knight R. Crow was directed by Rafael Negret at the Bulevar Theatre, in Madrid.[citation needed]

About the "background"[edit]

The Turkey incident happened after the play was already published (source: http://www.haroldpinter.org/politics/politics_torture.shtml); Antonia Fraser wrote in her book "Must you go?" that Pinter began to think about "One for the road" after reading "Prisoner Without a Name, Cell Without a Number" (Jacobo Timerman). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trucoto (talkcontribs) 12:23, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
