Coordinates[edit]

The coordinates in the article are way, way off. Anyone have anything more accurate? Google Maps resolution is too low for me to spot Pardis..--Commking 02:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Roxn/2.145.33.17 does have a point. The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency has the name of this city rendered as Shahr-e Jadīd-e Pardīs and (yes I know you can't use WP to ref itself) the map used in the article itself refers to 'Pardis city'. I think a name change should be considered, I'm not sure that calling an article about a place without the country is entirely proper. All the place-names for 'Paradise' are rendered as 'Paradise, (Country or State). Why not change the title of this article to Pardis City, New City of Pardis, Pardis, Iran, Pardis (city), Iran or some such. The Pardis disambiguation page lists 'Pardis, Khuzestan' as one of the possibilities, why does 'Pardis, Iran' not get its country name? Re-naming[edit]

Does anyone object to this article being re-named? The only city Wikipedia articles I have found that don't have the country as part of the title are well-known large/capital cities like New York City, Paris, London, New Delhi, Tehran and so on. This is a small city/development that only has a population of a little over 25,000 and seems to be regarded as something of a exurb of Tehran.Shearonink (talk) 18:20, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for any additional comments before this article is moved to a (what I consider to be a less-confusing) new title. As an aside, I have come across other Iranian town & city names that do not have a district/county/country attached but this practice seems to be against the grain of Wikipedia naming-conventions. Also, if I do a Google search of 'pardis city" I get mostly hits for this planned development, if I do a Google search of 'pardis', the results are a mish-mash of people named "Pardis", the concept of "paradise" plus places (including individual businesses) with the word "Pardis" in their name. I will move the article to either "Pardis (city), Iran", "Pardis, Iran", or "Pardis (city)" unless there are any objections. Shearonink (talk) 21:41, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
