earlier comments[edit]

I made a couple of changes, the main one to update the article with the latest news on the Betfair scandal. I also removed the word 'genuine' from in front of 'working class background' as it seemed somewhat tautological, and changed the word 'pro-development' to 'pro-business'; I am not 100% happy in the last change, because I wanted to removed the implication that parties opposed to Lennon and the causes he supports are 'anti-development'. In doing so I may have created the impression they are 'anti-business', so if anyone can think of a more appropriate way to put it, please do.

I also changed the words 'strong defender' to 'vocal proponent', as I thought more neutral language was required. Gamsarah 02:49, 11 January 2006 (UTC) (still getting the hang of this editing thing)[reply]

Para from main article[edit]

Moved this here, as it's probably more apt on the Forestry Tas page, and isn't really about Lennon. --Jgritz 03:38, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In an interview in January 2004, Lennon said: "Many hundreds of jobs in Tasmania are directly related to the harvesting of mature trees in Tasmania... The Australian Bureau of Statistics have reported that the number of people employed in the timber industry in Tasmania... has increased by 2,600. The Wilderness Society, Doctor Brown, Christine Milne, Olivia Newton-John and everybody else... might not care about Tasmanian families in this industry, and people working in this industry, but the Tasmanian government does."
