I created this article per suggestions in the Dominar Bishan AfD, so that minor character stubs and articles would not be deleted. Please help me merge other articles into this one, or trim down excess fat in this article that is better answered in a linked article. Race, Species, etc.

[edit]

Please let us use correct language. These are characters, of different species. A Leviathan is not a race; it's a biomechanoid. 76.91.3.65 (talk) 19:45, 21 January 2013 (UTC)cb[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Teeg 2.jpg

[edit]

Image:Teeg 2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Proposed merges

[edit]

As each of the characters has an entry on this page, merging their individual pages here should be no problem. SolidPlaid 21:35, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm not convinced that some of these characters don't merit their own articles, I have no problem with this suggestion at present. PC78 20:59, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vote for less coverage of tv-shows / tv-characters

[edit]

Has anyone any pointer why deep coverage of tv-characters supposed to be in a encyclopedia. I love wikipedia and i am a tv-show-junkie but anything more than a single sentence about a fictional character and may be a pointer to fan-site is just to much - at least in my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.83.246.172 (talk) 21:24, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Winona

[edit]

How is Winona a character? It's an inanimate object. It lacks the prime requisite (a personality) that makes a character. 90.196.184.156 (talk) 13:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the DRDs are also inanimate, in the sense that they are not alive, but there are sections on DRD One-Eye and DRD 1812. From the Fictional character article "A fictional character is any person, persona, identity, or entity whose existence originates from a fictional work or performance". Note "persona" and "entity". I see no reason why Winona cannot be considered a character, as she exhibited many of the required traits and was personified by John. Her disqualification based solely on the fact that she is an inanimate object is unfair. Think outside the box 09:30, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any "persona" Winona has is as imagined by John. I might think my mobile phone is fun and quirky and name it Charlie, but the phone itself is not a character. It cannot be fun because it has no personality. That would be me transplanting my own personality onto the object. As for the DRDs, they have personalities in as much as any living creature does. Especially 1812. Possibly Artificial Intelligence? They are parts of a living ship, like antibodies in a human. As far as I'm aware, there is no proof to support that they are not alive in the same way that Moya and Talyn are.
As for reverting my entire edit, by what stretch of the imagination can Rygel I and Rygel IX be considered "minor characters"? They are very briefly mentioned and never seen or heard. If this is the criteria for a minor character, why is every character ever seen in the series not included in this list? What about Volmae, who has an infinitely larger role in her single episode: Thank God It's Friday Again? Or Nilaam in Vitas Mortis? Or any number of characters who have considerably larger roles in the series?
Argument can be made that D'Argo's Qualta Blade has as much character as Winona. And what about Lo'La? At least as much. Maybe even Rygel's throne sled. If one inanimate object into which people can read personification is included in this article, so should they all. A line has to be drawn somewhere. 90.196.184.156 (talk) 13:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, for the first point, with that you could say Harvey isn't a character because he is imagined by John (well, to some extent anyway). And did anyone ever talk to Rygel's throne? But I'll take on board your other points, especially on Rygel I and Rygel IX. I won't change it back myself, but feel free to if you want, I won't revert it again. Think outside the box 14:00, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Harvey differs from Winona in that he is a character with a personality. He originated as a clone of Scorpius' personality and has had interactions with numerous characters. Winona is incapable of interation. John's pulse pistol cannot be compared to Harvey. It is more like the chip Harvey came from. 90.196.184.156 (talk) 18:34, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Too many non-free images

[edit]

Unless someone volunteers before me, I'll go through the article and remove all (excessive) non-free images per WP:NFC, replacing them with one or two group shots. I have no definite plans though yet for when I want to do that and how strict I will apply the NFC rules. – sgeureka tc 07:47, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Crichton seperate article

[edit]

I believe that an article devoted to John Crichton should be created (possibly with articles for the other main characters to follow, but just Crichton for now). Crichton is the main character of the series and Farscape has enough of a fanbase for the article to be justified. Articles on characters from less notable sci-fi series exist (e.g. Dylan Hunt (Andromeda)) so there is sufficient president. I'm only partway through watching season 4 right now, so I would need assistance in creating the article.--Marcus Brute (talk) 01:45, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See the WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument for Dylan Hunt's article, and the proposed WP:FICT for the (re)creation of Crichton's article. Mind you, there is probably sufficient real-world information about Crichton and some of the other main characters to write proper articles on them, but someone actually has to find and add that information to wikipedia first to prevent that their articles aren't merged again back into this list. If you still really want to write an article on Crichton, and if you want to see how articles should be written to avoid being merged, you'll find plenty of examples at WP:GA. – sgeureka tc 11:34, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Scorpius

He has no rank? He's called commander many times. And he's subordinate to Captain Crais for a time (as a commander would be). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.196.38.89 (talk) 10:15, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

erm- Harvey is a púca in rabbit form in the play (and maybe the movie), if I remember, not a rabbit. Which makes a good deal more sense... Schissel | Sound the Note! 04:09, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Voice of Moya

[edit]

I was trying to update the IMDB episode for Farscape" (1999) {Look at the Princess: Part 2: I Do, I Think (#2.12)} as I watch through the series completely for the first time (I missed many episodes when it was live) and I can not find the voice actress credit anywhere for Moya's only speaking role. I suspect it is Virginia Hey but there were several other important guest women actresses in this 3 parter including Browder's wife so it could be a number of actresses or maybe even a puppeteer or gf of O'Bannon. I'll see if IMDB will take 'unknown' as an actress because this is the only time Moya is voiced and I think it should be listed. 97.85.168.22 (talk) 07:00, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Come again? To the death... Crichton wins... but Maldis gets rid of Crais?

[edit]

In the eighth episode, an evil entity named Maldis transports Crais and Crichton into a labyrinth forcing them to duel to the death. Crichton eventually wins, but Maldis quickly gets rid of Crais...

What part of "to the death" or "wins" did I not understand?

Removal of reference to the French flag in re DRD 1812

[edit]

I have edited the section describing the DRD 1812 by removing the obviously false implication that Crichton intended to paint it to resemble the French flag. In the television show, Crichton is portrayed as an American, and in at least one episode, he publicly proclaims himself as such. Also, even though France was also fighting the British in 1812, there is no evidence whatsoever that the United States and France were co-belligerents in the War of 1812, so the idea that Crichton would have intended the DRD to resemble the French flag is utterly ludicrous. 68.228.136.13 (talk) 00:10, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The races list has major WP:PLOT and WP:NOTABILITY issues, and there is a large overlap with the LoC. I propose a merger rather than deletion/redirection. – sgeureka tc 11:26, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
