Guardian coup[edit]

I've seen the term Guardian coup thrown around by a good number of media sources ([1], [2]) regarding the recent 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état. The term appears to have originated in this book. power~enwiki (π, ν) 22:52, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Case of Samuel P. Huntington. In 1968 Samuel P. Huntington wrote a book entitled Political Order in Changing Societies. In it Huntington uses what might charitably be characterized as pseudomathematical hucksterism to "prove" that South African society in the 1960s was a "satisfied society". Serge Lang decided that nothing could be further from the truth, and in any event Huntington's methodology was suspect if not corrupt.
