AirTran Concourse[edit]

We do not know if AirTran is going to be in Concourse C. It could be in B or C. We need to make a undecided section. But Mindy911 (wikipedia user) had different thoughts. He/she erased what I did and but AirTran in Concourse C.

American Cutting back at CMH[edit]

Hi, I am an American ticket agent at Port Columbus, well was. All the american airlines staff members have been layed off. Half of us are expedted to be rehired un American Eagle to work american flights to/from CMH. That is not the only thing. We were told that American will be cutting service to STL from CMH in November, (Not yet been in media) and is expedted to cut the amount of flights to LGA in half or get rid of them all together. Should I or somebody else put these service changes on the CMH Page under where American serves to/from CMH? --AACMH5562 (talk) 21:13, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to hear that people have lost their jobs. As far as removing destinations, it's important to wait until the information can be verified. Cutbacks such as what you describe are usually covered by the local media. If or when it is published, then the article can be updated.--Analogue Kid (talk) 21:49, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delta Slashing Routes[edit]

Delta has not gotten rid of any routes except Los Angeles (returning in June). I know this because I am a ticket agent at cmh for Delta Airlines and Delta Connection. I don't know where you got this information. Delta is limiting the amount of times we fly to those destinations not getting rid of them.

Myrtle Beach Direct Air[edit]

Will not be seving Port Columbus insted, it will serve Rickenbacker. http://www.port-columbus.com/news/press/release.asp?PID=267 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.145.151.130 (talk) 21:25, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Website[edit]

there is a relly cool and nice website that poped up on the cmh page a couple of weeks ago it is fantastic and they are updating it every day. they have news that cmh website doesn't have. it takes like a week to get the most current information on the offical cmh website and it is approved by the airport authority. I called to make sure!! Check it out the web address is www.cmhinfo.org cmhcolumbus may 30 4:25 pm

Map[edit]

Hello, i took the of the terminal off because it was outdated and didn't include new gates, Skybus and other things. thank you. cmhcolumbus May 26, 2007 9:55

That is the most current map at Port Columbus as of 2 weeks ago. I will be there again next week, so if they have changed them, I'll get a new pic. Polypmaster 15:58, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

STOP FIGHTING[edit]

Ok, guys, I am sick of seeing 20 edits per day adding flight info then removing it. Firstly, none of your edits are referenced, which needs to be addressed. Secondly, it looks bad when the flight info keeps changing. I am making a rule which should mirror closely to what has been agreed upon on WikiProject:Airports: Flight info needs to be referenced and current (i.e. future flight plans should not be added) One exception I will allow is if the info is referenced and the flight is to begin within 30 days. But PLEASE, do not change the flight info at your will. If your have a conflict with the data on the site but you do not have direct reference, add your complaint to the talk page so it can be discussed. Starting tomorrow I don't want to see any unreferenced edits. Thank you. Polypmaster 01:57, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey you can't make rules about a page by yourself unless it is dicussed in the talk page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, references are universal. Shut up. The flights either are happening or aren't. I don't think they change that often. Make a decision and stick with it. And for your information I have spent many hours making this a better page, so I do have some say on this page. If you wish to not follow my suggestion then fine, but your edits will just get reverted continuously. Polypmaster 22:52, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Destinations[edit]

Observing this page over the last few months, I see lots of anonymous edits regarding new destinations. These usually end up being removed as we have no way of knowing whether it is actually true. To all editors, please cite sources such as a Columbus Dispatch or Business First article when adding new destinations. I realize some editors may work in the airport and have inside information, but unforutnately we need reliable sources. Wikipedia is no place for rumor and conjecture.--Analogue Kid 21:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is Delta's flight from SLC-CMH seasonal or is it year round? Someone has been removing it as of late. Spongefan 14:05, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would appreciate it if people stop fighting over the CMH flight schedule. I continually see a flight added then deleted then added again. If there is an issue with what is in the article, please discuss it here first. Thank you. Polypmaster 22:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Spongefan, I looked on Delta's website, they do have year round service on a MD-90 from SLC to CMH. They also have RJ service.

Suggestions[edit]

Here is a list of items suggested for improvement. Feel free to work on any of these, and cross them off when complete. Polypmaster 01:13, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trevor MacInnis[edit]

"It is also known for" , who knows? needs Reference.
NOTOC should be removed, the page is long enough to require one
"Airport Traffic" section needs expansion or merging into another section
Facilities restates runway info already in the infobox
The whole "Future Development" section sounds a bit vague (and without references). "To facilitate an anticipated passenger increase, the current terminal will be improved in order to maximize the usage of the facility."? That's like saying, "To improve things, things will be improved."
Refs need a separate section. Some of the external links can be used, and should be moved to the References section.
Overall a very good article, certainly B-class, I'd put it up for GA after the above issues are fixed.

JetBlue[edit]

Why is there no mention that JetBlue used to service the airport, then withdrew? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.22.100.242 (talk) 19:36, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

aircraft list[edit]

A list for aircraft served at port columbus has popped onto the article, but has no references. I edited it to fit within the article, but I would like a consensus on whether this category is even necessary. If so, whomever added it, please source your references. If there are no references, it must be removed until a reference can be provided. I would assume this info wasn't pulled out of thin air, so I am leaving it for now. Thanks. Polypmaster 14:39, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah doesn't seem like it's very relevant. Technically I'm sure every major western aircraft ever produced has visited Port Columbus at some point. I specifically remember flying to Phoenix on an America West 757 10 years ago, but of course they've reduced their operations mostly.--Analogue Kid 14:52, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I forgot to add the reference in. I am the one who created the list. I thought it would be a could idea to let peolple know what type of major aircraft flew into CMH. I found the info on NATCA's CMH local page. It is down in the external links. I also put the gate numbers for each airline, but someone took those off. I found those using CMH real time flight info, by writing down what ever gates a saw for that airline. I found Skybus's gates when I flew on U.S. Airways to LAS, In Concourse B. Thanks, American Airlines 757-767 Captian, Tpack4 16:49,16 April 2007

Ground Transportation[edit]

Something is missing for the article. I've already added public transportation to this article, but considering there's already added transportation like the Interstate 270 and Interstate 670 access in the beginnning part of the article. With this, I'm considering moving the road access to the public transportation and change the section to ground transportation. Anybody want to put any imput into this? Spongefan 01:04, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure what the standards are for this. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports for that information. If it is not there, ask on the discussion page. They should give you a good answer quickly. As for the intro paragraph, I would say leave it for now, as that paragraph is supposed to briefly cover the contents of the rest of the article. It can be reworked to cover public transportation too. If you want, ask them also about that. Something like "Port Columbus is also accessible via public transportation, however options are limited to bus, taxi, and airport shuttle." Work it in how you think. The car paragraph can also be reduced and that info could be added to ground transportation if the airport project guys think it is ok. Polypmaster 10:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CMH code[edit]

I was hoping that this article would have information explaining how the code CMH got applied to Port Columbus. While I believe I have known the answer before, I can't seem to remember it now. If anyone has it, please add it to the article. Jimbobjoe 06:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it means Columbus Municipal Hangar, but I can't cite a source for that other than to tell you I read it somewhere one time.--Analogue Kid 12:31, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added that info into the introduction. I fould a source, but I am not sure if it is useable. If someone has a more reliable source please replace it. Polypmaster 13:09, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does anybody know why seemingly overnight searching KCMH goes to a Christian radio company (owning a lot of stations with both W- and K- prefixes), and not to this Port Columbus Article or at least a reference page like typing in CMH does? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.24.175.90 (talk) 03:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CMH Map[edit]

The map of the terminal is based on the most recent information available from Port Columbus. While I understand it may not be perfect, it is the best that can be done with the information given. If they release a new map I will do my best to quickly update the image. Please also understand that original research is not valid for referencing any information, including images.

Overall, the map is a very helpful image that provides a general overview of the terminal and facilities contained within. Polypmaster 15:16, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The map needs an update -- according to the folks on Airliners.net, Midwest has moved to C48&49 and Skybus has moved to Midwest's old gates. I'd update this myself, except I 1) don't know how and 2) can't figure out my user name on here... You can see the discussion on Airliners.net at http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/3774308/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.24.175.90 (talk) 03:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aircraft incidents[edit]

I have added an incident section to the article as well as some incidents. I am having some trouble collecting all serious incidents since the NTSB site is not sorted by airport, and does not seperate minor incidents from serious ones. The sites I have found that provide easy dissemination of the information do not have complete records. If someone wants to sort through the 25 pages of NTSB records pertaining to Columbus, Ohio or knows a simpler way, please tell me. Also, I am unsure about the formatting. If someone thinks there is a better way or knows of a particular way the section is supposed to be formatted, go ahead and fix it. Thanks. Polypmaster 19:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why "PORT"?[edit]

Why is Port Columbus International Airport called "Port Columbus International Airport"? As opposed to "Columbus International Airport"?

And should a passage listing said reason be added to the article?

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:John Glenn Columbus International Airport/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Possibly place airline info into a separate article for decluttering purposes, and try not to have a revert war over the article. Otherwise, excellent for someone who is not familiar with this topic.--Bulleid Pacific 22:56, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name Change[edit]

The source quoted about the name change to John Glenn Columbus International Airport states that it becomes official 90 days after Gov. Kasich signed the bill. That means the name won't officially change until September. Based on this, should the article name be reverted back to Port Columbus International Airport? 71.31.165.180 (talk) 03:02, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • The new name is already in use by the airport itself (in signage and branding), so it's effectively already called "John Glenn" even if the name hasn't been formally made official yet. -- ~longestaugust (talk) 20:22, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • But it's not official and could potentially (although highly unlikely since it would require approval of the Ohio General Assembly) be reversed. Plus the CRAA website still refers to the airport as Port Columbus. It seems that WP:BALL would apply in this case. 24.112.186.170 (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What should other articles call CMH?[edit]

With the ceremony completed, it's official that the name of the airport has changed. I would like to suggest we update the references to CMH from other articles. More specifically, Columbus now has two airports meeting the definition of "primary commercial service" (more than 10,000 passengers per year), John Glenn and Rickenbacker (source).

In the case of other cities such as Phoenix, the primary airport is always referenced as Phoenix-Sky Harbor to distinguish it from the much smaller Phoenix/Mesa airport which also has commercial service. Same is true for other cities such as Houston (IAH & HOU), and Dallas (DFW & DAL). To make articles as accurate as possible, we should make a similar change going forward for other airport articles that fly to CMH.

The question for you, dear editor, is this: What exactly should it look like?

Columbus-John Glenn -or- Columbus-Glenn

There is precedent for using both formats. Toronto (YYZ) is always referred to as Toronto-Pearson, while Paris (CDG) is always referred to as Paris–Charles de Gaulle. Both of those airports are named for distinguished statesmen. I lean towards Columbus-Glenn because within North America besides YYZ, LaGuardia and O'Hare are both named for people and their respective first names aren't referenced in everyday conversation or links to their articles. Rickenbacker is a similar example closer to home. -Analogue Kid (talk) 20:43, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of First Terminal[edit]

Hello everyone, I would like to replace this photo currently used as a photo of the first Terminal with this one. I feel the quality is much better. I attempted to take a new photo from the same angle but unfortunately in its current state of disrepair it is not a good shot anymore. I do feel the one I am proposing is better then the one currently used. I did take 5 pictures I believe around the original Terminal that are on commons and attempted to reshoot several days later but still feel that one is the best. I don't mind attempting again as I am by KCMH a lot if the community would feel that to be best.
