August 2017 resignations[edit]

In response to Jahaza's edit: The Washington Post article I cited stated that the remaining members of the commission resigned. If there are no remaining members, then the committee is effectively disbanded. Do you have another source that says otherwise? Funcrunch (talk) 15:45, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I added a reference and clarification that 16 out of the 17 committee members have resigned. I think this should be in the lead as the committee is certainly gutted if not officially disbanded. Funcrunch (talk) 16:24, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As ex officio members I'm not sure that they would even have the ability to resign, without also resigning from their primary jobs. Funcrunch (talk) 20:32, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, even if every member resigned, the president could appoint new members. It appears to be a long-standing body, and I'd be reluctant to call it "disbanded" unless some official disbandment is reported. TJRC (talk) 21:26, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like per the source I just added that Trump is in fact disbanding the committee. The White House claims he had already decided to do so before the resignations (I'll make no comment on that). Funcrunch (talk) 14:43, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we should have one of these in the article's title and another in the article's first sentence. And one of them should redirect to the other.
