I was at the qui Nhon army airfield in 1969. With the 343 aviation division , we ran the operations at the airfield. I was in base operations that kept the airfield afloat. I returned to Vietnam on April 24, 2019 on a cruise from Hong Kong, the closest I could get to qui Nhon was Nha Trang, I was told the airfield runway in Qui Nhon was converted to a commercial boulevard,I found photos on google earth. Although there were no remnants of any American entities, even in ho chi Ming city. Other than the old us embassy. Otherwise the culture and climate has not changed all that much, there is an Japanese and Korean influence in the future of this country. I visited a resort in Nha trang called Vinpearl. Vinpearl is a Vietnamese billionaire that invested heavily into this resort, it was beautiful but not so great for Vietnamese visitors. Very expensive with few vacationers. The beach there was as nice as I remembered Red Beach in Qui Nhon, my wife and grandchildren enjoyed this place and loved seeing Viet Nam through my eyes. It was a great vacation, Hong Kong was very nice but Singapore was even better, such a model culture that works.
