Untitled[edit]

just had to edit it, someone changed the name of Randy's band to be sort of an "insult", and his band is known as the Randy Bachman Band, not Randy Bachman's Rock Thing.

Honourary v Honorary[edit]

Shouldn't it be honourary (not honorary), since Bachman is Canadian and the only nation (that I know of at least) that spells it "honorary" is the United States, while just about every other english nation spells it with "u"?

There is no word spelled "honourary". Although the root is "honor" in the U.S. and "honour" in Canada, honorary is spelled without the "u" in both places.

Honorary at all?[edit]

Tal Bachman[edit]

Should this page make mention of his son, Tal Bachman, famed for his song "She's so High"? Vampus 10:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Still a Mormon[edit]

I don't exactly have any solid proof other than a post deep within Bachman's forums (in a post by Randy's wife) that Tal got tired of Mormonism, shared his feelings on the matter, and most of the family broke off from the religion, including Randy and his wife. Not exactly the best source of information, I know.

However, if you notice, there's no longer any mention of Mormonism on his website's biography, whereas there used to be about 6-12 months ago.

If there's no proof, then shouldn't it stay stating the fact that he IS a mormon, since that is the most solid proof we got. There isn't even any references to where the supossed info is from.


I think that's true... it says at the top of the page that if there isn't concrete evidence + a link to send people to, then there shouldn't be any mention of it at all. Currently, we just have speculation which isn't good enough to let us put it on the page. I found some hints in the article "Career in Constant Overdrive has rewards, and casualties." http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-2500558_ITM. It doesn't specifically mention him leaving the Latter-day Saint church, the demise of his marriage to his Mormon wife, who introduced him to the church, would support the view that he is no longer a practicing mormon.

I heard Randy speak to a student gathering when I was a student at BYU, sometime between 1976 and 1979. I have the following recollections. He described meeting his wife at a Coffee House where his band was playing. She was there with her sister and ended up inviting him home. He was surprised by the fun, large Mormon family that she came from. He described having feelings he had never before had that gave him a different perspective. This led to a conflict with the band and ultimately its break up. He said that his formoer colleagues (Keith Richards?) told him that he would never amount to anything. He said smugly that the next time he saw them was in a London airport lounge, when BTO was the number one album in the world. Finally, he said that people read too much into his lyrics. Randy was on a CBC Radio One talk show some time back. When asked if he were still a Mormon, he said he and his family were now more "spiritual", and not Mormon.Toddsschneider (talk) 13:03, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the biography starts with his life in the 2000s, maybe someone can write a few sections on his early life, and career with the Guess Who and BTO.

Randy/Denise[edit]

Randy Bachman public blunder[edit]

I see that some people think that when something tarnishes the image of someone, it should not be on the Wikipedia page of the said person.

Only one side, only the rosy part. If that person blunders, insults a whole population, even if there is a reference to his miserable opinion, it cannot be on WikiPedia.

Hulmem, he ain't no demi-god. He just a human being that has messed up in a way so incredible that his views has to be reflected to the world. That it does not suit you is not of your choice. He publicly outrage a whole culture and it is relevant to his representation. That you removed my contrib makes you a promoter of his opinion. In the eyes of 7 million people, he has lost all "notibility".

Adding in COVID "Stronger Together" appearance on CBC[edit]

Repeated Vandalism[edit]

This page may need to be protected somewhat, as a user has been repeated adding in libelous edits, i.e. that Randy Bachman raped his daughter, is the leader of a child pornography ring, etc. I don't know why this is happening, nor do I truly care, but either way none of these edits have been cited, nor have I found any sources for the claims; my best guess is that this is some personal thing and/or conspiracy, either way, it does not have any place on Wikipedia, especially not on a biography of a living person
