There's a photo of Major General Robert H Tyndall at Camp Shelby online, if anyone's interested. Mingusboodle (talk) 22:20, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

American Legion category[edit]

After a brief discussion here, Category:Members of the American Legion was deleted. The Robert Tyndall article belonged to this category because he was an early member who helped established chapters and acted as the national treasurer. Per the discussion, we should put this article in Category:American Legion. However, the bots will not allow him to be assigned to that category because it's not for biographies. Anyone know what we're supposed to do? Canute (talk) 17:15, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I tried to discuss on the Creating Category talk:Members of the American Legion as I was directed to by the archived discussion, but it was also deleted. So I don't even know where to discuss this except here. Canute (talk) 13:52, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Canute: The result of that CFD discussion was that biography articles should not be categorized by the organization unless they were National Commanders, so Mr. Tyndall shouldn't be in the American Legion category. However, we also have Category:American veterans' rights activists which might come close to what you're looking for but the "activist" categories require that a person's involvement is WP:DEFINING. I can certainly imagine he was an activist since he rose to the rank of national treasurer although the current article really doesn't get into his post-War veteran's advocacy but maybe it can be expanded. - RevelationDirect (talk) 04:52, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
