Spin off of Flavor of Love?[edit]

Is this technically a spinoff of Flavor of Love, or does it just borrow from the concept? None of the participants were ever on FOL. —The Real One Returns 01:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC) I still think that the two are related, so they are.[reply]

Just like New York's show, it has the same concept. (Finding a date) So YES it's a spinoff.70.60.47.68 18:33, 28 June 2007 (UTC)donduckgirl[reply]

New York's show featured New York, herself, who had been on Flavor of Love—which made it a spinoff. If no one from Flavor of Love is going to be on Rock of Love, then it is not a spinoff. It's simply inspired by.The Real One Returns 03:28, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Real One Returns is absolutely correct. NO. This is absolutely NOT a spinoff, as there are no mutual characters on the show. Spinoffs have characters that were on the original show and "spun-off" from the original to their own show. So I Love New York is a spinoff of Flavor of Love, but Rock of Love is simply a variation of the concept. Other examples of spinoffs - Frasier (spunoff from Cheers), The Jeffersons (spun off from All in the Family), Rhoda (spunoff from the Mary Tyler Moore show), Joey (spunoff from Friends)- what makes them spinoffs is that the lead character in the second show was a player in the original.

"Discussion page vandalism
Blanking the posts of other users from talk pages other than your own, Wikipedia space, and other discussions, aside from removing internal spam, vandalism, etc., is generally considered vandalism."
Even IF my comment was unrelated to improving the article, it did NOT constitute you deleting my comment because it was a form of vandalism on your behalf. I'd also like to add that the comment was indeed relevant, as I simply answered, or ATTEMPTED to answer the question at hand, by stating that there was a good likelihood that this show would be a spinoff after somebody from the series (Flavor Flav, New York), made a cameo appearance, similar to how New York made an appearance on Charm School. -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.173.79 (talkcontribs)

Contestant Fifteen/Tamara[edit]

Fifteen wasn't confirmed online yet, so I am listing 15 as "eliminated" until Sunday night. Also, if the person has been confirmed by a blog as appearing on ROL, then it is not reliable. In addition, I hyperlinked Tamara since she is a Playboy playmate. ɐpuɐɹıɯ 18:58, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brandi C. - Not Eliminated on first episode[edit]

Brandi C. was not eliminated on the first episode. She was the last contestant called out, for a "back stage pass." Please correct this information on wikipedia article. The episode is available for download on itunes, before airing on vh1. -James 2007-07-15@15:14 CST.

Not confirmed via reliable sources. Will be updated tonight. See post above. Miranda 20:32, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I read the article about reliable sources. Thanks. But, again, this information was downloaded from Itunes. How is Itunes not considered a reliable source? And for that matter, where did this original mis-information come from? Did it come from a reliable source? I am only trying to help make this more accurate. Thats all. -James 2007-07-15@15:39 CST
Not everyone has the capability to access iTunes, and the film can be manufactured by an unreliable third party? Look, the information will be changed tonight when the official premiere is shown on VH1. Thanks. Miranda 20:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The information on the first set of eliminations came from VSPOT, VH1's official channel. Miranda 20:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that you are just being difficult on the matter. Now, Im going to stop trying to convince you that Itunes is more accessible that you think. Further more, Tiffany was allowed to stay, at the end of the show too. Correct it now, or later. I dont care anymore. -James 2007-07-15@1552
Not a reliable source or verifiable source provided. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Wait until tonight. Sorry. End of story. :-) Miranda 21:00, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I waited until tonight, like you said. So, now I can say I told you so. =) End of story. -James. 2007-07-15@21:22CST
Thank you! :-) Miranda 02:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where Filmed?[edit]

If someone could state on the wikipedia page where this show is filmed I would appreciate it. Is it filmed in Austin Texas? Thanks!

Los Angeles, California. Miranda 06:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tawny in another show?[edit]

I've seen her somewhere else before. I think it was in another reality show. Any ideas? --Mongrel 05:37, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah, she's not the only one. Raven is going to be on a show on GSN called, "Without Prejudice". So, a few of these girls are just actresses looking for exposure.
    • Yes, but what show? It's killing me. --Mongrel 06:16, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • I found it. She was on Meet My Folks back in 2002[1]. I can't believe I remember her from a mostly forgotten show from 5 years ago. I've never felt so lame. --Mongrel 07:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Identifying contestants[edit]

I hope we will be able to identify more of the contestants. I am sure viewers would be interested to know this and it would make the wikipedia entry more complete. Whoever can edit this, I found out that Lacey is Lacey Conner, musician and founder of the band Nocturne. You can also confirm it by looking at Nocturne's official website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.65.165.102 (talkcontribs)

Might want to look at notability before creating such a page. Miranda 07:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He/she did not say that they wanted to create another page. I think they just wanted to add the data somewhere. Speaking of notability, Lacey Conner is already mentioned in Wikipedia, with her band. Plus, she is mentioned again in the Rock of Love article. Meaning, whats the big deal with adding one more line in the rock of love article, about her band? Hypothetically, we are just adding another link to her band's page. I see no damage in that.
Meeting the notability criteria: Concerning significant coverage, Lacey has her band webpage, plus there is a plethora of sources that give that band coverage, from her bands website. Concerning reliability, I think that is a matter of opinion. She has many photos on the band's website. There are probably more reputable rock websites available for that information, though. Concerning sources: Again, we have the band original website. But I am sure that there are more websites available. Also, I think that this is independent of the subject. We are talking about a link to her band, not career in reality tv. The claim that Lacey is in a band, the suggested source is very objective. Also, this could probably just be added in a trivia section or something? ClaytonJR 7/28/7 2:25PM
Per trivia sections on the Manual of Style, they are discouraged. However, I think that the subject has more notability than the show. This is just my opinion, however. Miranda 23:58, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I meant neither a new page nor a trivia section but the turning of the 1st mention of their names into a wikilink if a page exists or an external link if there is an appropriate one. However, as far I can currently tell, quite a few of the contestants have a myspace page, at most, for their internet presence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.65.165.102 (talkcontribs)
Ah, linking to myspace pages are discouraged. See this link. Miranda 14:27, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. However, the link you provided only explains that wikipedia is not a social site like myspace. In order to educate about not linking to myspace, you want to provide this link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.65.165.102 (talkcontribs)

That's good, I forgot about the external link policy. :-) Miranda 15:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Call-Out Order[edit]

For episode 3, the call out order is messed up. (I noticed Heather and Magdelana first.) Since I am not good at all with Wikipedia charts, can someone edit it and give the correct call-out order (maybe the first two episodes have incorrect callout orders to, probably not).

Thanks! ~Drew

Please provide the call out order below, and I will see what I can do. Miranda 21:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, someone else fixed it already. Thank you though.

Thanks! :) ~Drew

Contestants Table Colors[edit]

Can people please stop messing up the call out order colors. Thanks. Miranda 01:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As someone who designs for the web, I think the four(!!!) shades of pink/coral plus orange absolutely lacked contrast (as well as consideration for certain color blind folks) and in some cases made the black text difficult to read. So yes, I 'messed up' the colors (sorry, Miranda; hope this doesn't upset you too much :p). Eliminations are now bold, white text against a darker background color and the overall palette has been expanded so that colors are more easily discernible. The green winner block has also been styled with white, bold text which will provide much more contrast than black text. ~Mr. Mak 76.18.150.69 08:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Callout Order in Contestants Table[edit]

Just wanting to get other's opinions on this. Rodeo was the first to be called out, but was eliminated. In my opinion, since this is the Callout Order, that she should be first on the list, instead of last. Tinkleheimer 03:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. And, what I also agree upon is that people need to stop changing the colors of the table. It is confusing. Miranda 12:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I listed the table below. Rodeo was called out first, but that would mess up the table formatting. Miranda 12:33, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Miranda: you agreed before you disagreed? I'm with Tinkleheimer on this one -- it is makes no sense to list contestants in callout order while making an exception for those that get eliminated (especially since the chart is colorized to indicate this). In episode nine, for example, Brandi M. was called out before Heather, but the chart does not reflect this. How would correcting this glaring flaw 'mess up' the formatting? ~Mr. Mak 76.18.150.69 08:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a footnote to the table pointing out this inconsistency until the issue is resolved. ~Mr. Mak 76.18.150.69 08:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, but I reverted your edits because people adding unverified information to the article. Due to many IPs and new users editing this article, we can't verify if the content is true due to the lack of results on VH1's website. The chart is OK for now without the glaring colors and experimentation made by some users. Miranda 15:18, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(reduce indent) Whatever you think. Not my problem anymore. Miranda 15:23, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments are not in any way constructive. I didn't add any of the unverified info, just attempted to update the color scheme of the chart (which right now has a palette reminiscent of vomit). One of the core principles of web design is to make sure that design is as accessible as possible to all people and I am telling you that the vomit colors will be impossible to differentiate by certain colorblind folks (see WP:WAI). Besides, they look terrible and I see you've made similarly poor choices elsewhere (Flavor of Love, for one) so I guess you're just trying to keep all of these charts consistent in how repulsive and un-readable the color schemes are. Good for you. I did add the footnote pointing out that the eliminated contestants are not necessarily listed in callout order because otherwise the chart is misleading and inaccurate. If you take issue with this please continue the discussion with a comment that is more substantive than "whatever" MrMak 17:45, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The show can't be verified with the callout orders unless we have transcrips. For some colorblind users, the colors can be similar to other colors. And on other VH1 shows, the colors that I present are on the other pages as well. M.(er) 03:10, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not Vandalism[edit]

I do not appreciate being accused of vandalism when I edited the page after the midday viewing. As it says at the top of the discussion page, it is not vandalism editing the page after the midday viewing. I may have the order wrong in some places on the call out order but it was not intend incurate. But I see that this is someone's personal page to edit and I do not want to step on toes. I will not be editing/contributing to this page. Sorry for stepping on toes. Thank you for your time.

--Slayergenxxx 02:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The warning was blanked and the information was kept in tact. I didn't know that there was a midday viewing. And, the warning was placed after I reverted your edits. Thanks. Miranda 02:07, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I courtesy blanked your page, since I realized that the information was correct. However, you reverted me back shown here. Since I have explained it here, I blanked the unwarranted warning. I should have been more clear in what occurred, and I apologize. You now have a welcome message on your page. Thanks. Miranda 02:15, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Apology accepted. Sorry for getting fired up about it, but it hit a sore spot. All is good now though :) Anyways, I helped out on this talk page (like two seconds ago) because someone vandalized the talk page with curse words and vulgarity. --Slayergenxxx 22:35, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Callout Order...Again[edit]

For episdode 6, the callout order is: Brandi M., Heather, Jes, Mia, Lacey, Sam, Magdelena. Can someone please fix this?

Episode 9/02/07[edit]

Sam gets kicked off. Heather gets a tattoo of 'Bret' on the back of her neck. Lacey is still there. And ugly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.113.218 (talk) 16:03, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong information on table[edit]

On the table for episode 7 Jes is bold because she won date time with Brett however Sam and Lacey aren't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.83.44.93 (talk) 06:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 9[edit]

Whoever continues to put up the "supposed" call-out order for episode nine, please stop. You have not provided any sources saying Brandi M. was eliminated. The episode has not premiered yet (note I am posting this on a Saturday), and I checked Vspot, and there are no clips for episode nine (except for the sneak preview).

~Thanks! :) Drew

If the vandalism gets bad enough, the page will be semi-protected. Miranda 02:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that someone from the production company is leaking. Total speculation, but I've noticed that each week, the info is up early, and it's pretty accurate.
--Lisa —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.231.220.185 (talkcontribs)
The episode comes on television early, before the nationwide production late at night. See the header above. Miranda 01:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 11 is a Clip Show[edit]

per TV Guide. Episode 12 is the final show. Miranda 02:48, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bret Michaels intended to eliminate Heather in Ep. 9?[edit]

There is an italicized commment under Ep. 9 that Big John had to leave in order to get Heather's pass because Bret had initially intended to eliminate her. Where was this stated? Or is the person just speculating because Big John left the room after Brandi that he must have been going to get Heather's pass? If it's just speculation, it shouldn't be on the page. 71.98.99.184 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.98.99.184 (talk) 18:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had seen another schedule somewhere online that showed it's airtime as September 30, but I haven't been able to locate it (Ok, I haven't tried too hard.) Sorry I can't be more helpful, but perhaps someone else will stumble on it. Voodlecat 01:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

THERE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL WINNER!!![edit]

I do not think that those so called spoiler warnings should be on the official article!! It also says that Jes is the winner on the charts THE EPISODE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN YET! DONT EDIT THE INFORMATION!!!!! Omniii 04:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Omniii[reply]

Poo! I just came here to see who got eliminated last week, but my enjoyment was totally destroyed by someone listing the winner of the last episode. WTF?! Can you not just wait a week to spoil it? The episode hasn't even eff-ing aired yet! You suck! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.101.40.142 (talk) 03:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haha I put the official winner of "Rock of Love" on the call-out order chart and I put it right. I'm a psychic. I put the right call-out order when the show aired episode 10. So, don't be mad at me. I want candy! Cookie Monster (talk) 00:54, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

myspace pages[edit]

can someone link the contestant's names to their myspace pages (if they have one?)

other biographical information (birthdate, where from) would be nice too.

No. Wikipedia is not Myspace. Also, see our policy on external links and notability. M.(er) 07:43, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

External links?[edit]

I noticed that the entire external link section dissappeared, which consisted of these two links:

  • Rock of Love official website
  • Rock of Love myspace (Note: The page is set to private)

Before I put them back in, was there a specific reason that they were removed, or were they simply accidentally deleted?Voodlecat 22:27, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe due to vandalism and/or test edits? M.(er) 07:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, that's probably it. I put the section back in, and fixed the wacky tableformatting caused by vandalism.Voodlecat 01:43, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Purple?[edit]

Just asking. The chart where Lacey's eliminated, shouldn't she be purple since she was called out first? So it'd be in correct order, and that star is gone? That's why the purple is there, right? I don't want to screw it up though. (And I think same with Magdalena? Or am I wrong? I thought Sam was freaking out over it because she was up there and last?) -Babylon pride 22:04, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contestants Full Names[edit]

I went on IMDB and I saw Tiffany's full name on the cast list of the show. Also, I didn't see Tiffany's full name on the page. So, if anyone wants to know Tiffany's full name, her full name is Tiffany "Pee Pee Alcoholic" Carmona. Cookie Monster (talk) 18:42, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
